We surveyed 237 tourist graduates, and only 1/4 of the job found a job in the tourism industry

"This year's hotel recruitment operators and Guan Peisheng's minimum academic qualifications have been improved to undergraduate. It is not uncommon for graduate students to apply for relevant positions." HR Zhao Qing, a large hotel group, told Global Brigade.

In 2022, the number of graduates of Chinese universities is expected to be 10.76 million. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 500,000 fresh graduates of tourism related majors in 2022. Now the first threshold for employment of these graduates is "rolled" to academic qualifications.

Even if there is an academic knock on the door, another mountain is blocked in front of this group of tourism students -the tourism industry is one of the industries that face the impact of the epidemic, and a large number of enterprises shrink the scale of recruitment. According to the Global Brigade News, a domestic wine management company has optimized all the internships of fresh graduates due to local epidemic in March this year.

The "National Travel Agency Statistical Survey Report" issued by the Market Management Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism also pointed out that since the outbreak of the epidemic, the national travel agency practitioners have declined with an average of 70,000 people per year. Behind this is not a simple loss of talents, in fact, a large number of positions may face permanently.

At present, graduates of tourism -related majors in 2022 will usher in "the hardest one year". Nowadays, most of the fresh graduates have officially left the school and integrated into society and workplace. Among the "Tourism Survey Survey Question Holdings" (hereinafter referred to as the investigation of the employment of fresh graduates of tourism majors "(hereinafter referred to as the investigation) issued by Global Travel News, the 237 valid questionnaires still reflect three" boss difficulties ":

Quote college students want to transfer to major when they enter the school.

Travel positions are sharply reduced, professional counterpart employment is no longer a preferred choice;

The number of salary ranking is the penultimate, and young people are unwilling to stay in the tourism industry for a long time.

And when these issues can be completely solved, it becomes a topic that the school enterprises and the entire industry are concerned.

01

I want to transfer to a professional as soon as I enrolled

Among the 237 objects interviewed, there were 17 secondary school students, 190 college students, 24 undergraduate students, and 6 students and above. In terms of professional, there were 61 tourism management, 141 hotel management, and the exhibition economy. There are 27 people and 3 other majors. Most of them (194 people, 81.86%) respondents actively chose majors related to tourism, and the remaining respondents were passively adjusted to tourism.

However, some quasi -student students who are full of "love" also seem to gradually fall into confusion in college learning.

Sun Li, who had studied under a undergraduate university in Shenyang, recalled that the original tourism management major was out of "love", but this love is not because of the industry, but is keen to rely on tourism to explore the unknown world. After entering the university, it was found that the school's teaching content and future employment direction were very different from expected, and Sun Li fell into a deep confusion.

Yan Xiangjun, the dean of Shandong Tourism Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as Shandong Travel Vocational), has conducted research on the class of tourism -related majors. More than half of the students have never experienced cross -provincial travel independently; when quasi -college students enter the Shandong travel, they are in Shandong. It is expected that in the future, we will serve as a tour guide and travel around the world; students in hotel management are expected to quickly leave the grassroots and serve as "decent" at Gaoxing Hotel.

Ideal is full, the reality is very skinny. When aware of the difference between travel majors and imagination, most students came out of their minds: transfer to professional.

The survey results show that even though most of the respondents took the initiative to choose tourism, more than half (141, 59.49%) respondents had the idea of transferring professionalism after studying tourism.

In addition to the cognitive deviation of tourism majors, it is not difficult to find out in the communication with fresh graduates. The content of the course is another major element that makes them lose interest in tourism majors.

Recalling the college travel majors, Zhao Qing used "not grounding" to describe. Tourism management is a second -level discipline under industrial and commercial management. Some professional courses are only based on economic management, coupled with the evolution of the word tourism. In addition, professional courses, including marketing, management, psychology, accounting, exhibition management, etc., also have a fault in the practice link with tourism management.

However, most interviewees believe that the knowledge and skills learned in the school are basically sufficient (127, 53.39%) or exactly enough (33, 13.92%), only a small part (77, 32.49%). Knowledge and skills are not enough to apply in the workplace.

However, in the question of whether "whether there is any course in the period of school", more than 60%(157, 66.24%) respondents chose the "None" option.

This also reflects another phenomenon: the tourism market is changing with each passing day. How to systematically output the underlying knowledge in teaching courses can keep up with the latest practical cases and analysis of the market, and has become a key issue for college curriculum design.

It is reported that in the renewal of the course of Shandong, in order to cope with the digital transformation of tourism and the increasingly hot scene, e -commerce e -commerce has increased tourism information dissemination, tourism e -commerce and other courses. At the same time, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education, the hotel management major is renamed as hotel management and digital operations, and the catering management major is renamed the dining intelligent management major.

But Yan Xiangjun admits: "How to teach the course, how to adjust the knowledge structure of teachers? How to accurately pass the latest informationization, changes in business formats, changes in business models, and digital transformation of the tourism industry to students? ) The pressure is still not small. "However, compared to the course update, the respondents also gave another point of view: tourism as a course with more practicality than theoretical, schools should strengthen students' social practice in school, and also It is the internship we often say.

02

Fresh graduates of tourism escape the tourism industry?

"The school is like a siege. Compared with boring courses, I prefer to escape the siege and practice from society to gain more future experiences." From the third year of college Social practice.

This is the choice of most tourism students. The survey shows that about 60%(143 people, 60.34%) respondents had internship experience related to tourism companies during the school, and most of them (51, 54.25%) were believed to be in the future. Employment is helpful.

However, affected by the epidemic, under the huge impact of the entire tourism industry, the fresh graduates also expressed their at a loss for the industry's prospects.

According to the results of the survey, only 20%(50, 21.1%) interviewees are optimistic about the employment prospects of college tourism students, while 30%(78 and 32.91%) have clearly stated that they have expressed their prospects for employment. Not optimistic, the remaining respondents were swinging and confused.

Although as of July 5, the employment rate of fresh graduates of Shandong Traveling has reached 93%, and the employment rate is basically the same as in previous years, but the employment rate of professional counterparts has declined. The year -on -year decline in employment rate is mainly due to the harsh external environment. In addition, many students choose to employment slowly. "

In response to the deterioration of the employment environment, the measures adopted by Shandong Tourism are to keep in touch with various tourism companies to ensure that the total number of tourism posts is unchanged. According to the data given by Yan Xiangjun, in Shandong Travel Vocational Schools held this year, the supply and demand ratio of fresh graduates and corporate manpower needs is 1:11, that is, each student submits resumes and the average number of on -site interviews exceeds 11 times.

However, it is not optimistic about industry prospects, and eventually allows college students to leave the tourism industry in batches. In Sun Li's impression, there are more than 150 fresh graduates of the same tourism related majors, more than 10 people who have been ashore in the postgraduate entrance examination. Among the remaining graduates who have succeeded in employment, only her is still in the tourism industry.

The survey also shows that only 60 of the respondents (25.32%) work are related to the tourism industry. The rest is either working with the tourism industry. The idea.

Further understanding the career selection standards of the respondents, we can find that most of the respondents (174 people, 73.42%) think that finding a job may not have to be linked to the professional. Some do not have a fixed direction, thinking that there are job opportunities to try.

Perhaps the professional non -counterpart has long become the consensus of graduates, but it is also full of helplessness. Chen Yan, a college graduate of the "escape" tourism industry, said helplessly: "Do not choose to stay in the tourism industry, on the one hand, the major environment is deteriorating, and the tourism positions are reduced. On the other hand, as a college student, it is good to find a job now, can we still pick us? "

03

Fulfid salary, how can the tourism industry retain talents?

In fact, in the era of technology changes, the professional structure of the market has begun to reorganize, emerging positions have emerged, and the tourism industry is no longer limited to travel agencies and hotels. Yan Xiangjun also observed that the catering, culture, real estate and other industries have gradually chose to recruit employees in Shandong. In addition, new media operations and anchors have also become one of the way out of tourist students.

Judging from the survey, salary is the most concerned factor for the most concerned graduates of tourism majors. Most (75 people, 42.37%) respondents believe that the salary and benefits of tourism companies to graduates are not expected; second (61, 34.46%), they believe that the industry has no prospects and does not want to stay in the tourism industry; again (60 people again (60 people 33.90%) is the personal factor, for example, you are not interested in the tourism industry.

The low salary in the tourism industry seems to have become a consensus. According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the average annual salary of employment in urban non -private units and private units nationwide in 2021 was 106837 yuan and 62884 yuan, but they were subdivided to tourism -related accommodation and catering. 53631 yuan and 46,817 yuan, equivalent to the average salary of 3900 yuan-4500 yuan per month for employees in accommodation and catering.

Yan Xiangjun also reported that in Shandong's school recruitment this year, the salary given by star hotels has also declined to varying degrees, and the low will drop to 3,000 yuan-3500 yuan, up to about 4500 yuan to 5,000 yuan per month.

Combined with the survey, we also found that most of the tourist graduates' expectations for the first job are similar to the average salary of the industry, about 70%(168, 70.89%), and the monthly salary of the first job can be The range of 3000 yuan -6000 yuan.

Yan Xiangjun admitted: "The person in charge of the school recruitment of the enterprise said that if time goes by for ten years, tourism companies can easily recruit 3,000 yuan monthly salary to the grass -roots service post, but now if it is more than ten years ago, it will be ten years ago. It is difficult to imagine that the salary level recruitment is difficult to imagine that such salary cannot even meet the minimum needs of this generation of college students. How can you persuade graduates to join the tourism industry? "In fact, increasing salary may not be the only solution. Investigation is investigating. Most (189 people, 79.75%) respondents said that if they work in the tourism industry in the future, they are willing to start from the grassroots level. In other words, low salary may be short -lived, but the enterprise needs to improve the internal promotion system within the company, and at the same time, we must also pay attention to the adjustment of employees' work intensity. Some interviewees also said that when delivering resumes to tourism companies in the future, they will also see the corporate background and popularity.

All in all, for a long time in the future, the tourism industry, schools, and graduates still need to create opportunities to realize the real "professional counterpart". If the loss of talents and the injection of fresh blood, this will cause different degrees of blows in the future industrial recovery. Therefore, for tourism majors and tourism, retaining talents in the tourism industry is urgent.
