Sri Lanka continues to implement an emergency in the country

The announcement said that the implementation of public emergency status is for public safety, protecting public order, and maintaining the supply and services needed for social life. According to Sri Lanka's "Public Safety Law", in the case of public emergency state, the president has the right to introduce emergency laws, which can involve detention personnel, searches, and take over assets.

At the emergency party meeting held in the afternoon of the same day, most political party leaders asked the president and the Prime Minister to resign immediately and set up an interim government participating in each party as soon as possible.
