On both sides of the main Buddha are the statues of two disciples, and their carving forms are relief instead of round carvings, which is rare in early caves in Longmen Grottoes. Gao Dongliang explained that the combination of early grotto statues was a combination of triple statues, that is, a combination model of one Buddha, two bodhisattvas or one Maitreya, and the two Bodhisattva. The statue of the five -body statue began to appear in Binyangzhong Cave. The completion of Binyangzhong was roughly from 515 to 517 AD. During this period, the form of the five -body statue was officially determined.
