My story with China

● (Thailand) Chen Lingling

As a Thai Chinese, in an important festival, I will definitely gather with my relatives and chat while burning. At this time, children will always hear the history of the elders about Chinese stories and families, and there are many situations about where they are born, how daily life is, and why is it difficult to immigrate to Thailand and move to Thailand. Every time they tell these stories, their faces show their pride and happiness.

I can feel the emotions of the elders -they are grateful to China's soil and water, and they love China. Elders often instill our children not to forget their roots, respect others, and have to get along well in the family. They will also tell children a lot of rich and interesting customs. I am dazed and understand Chinese culture, such as Chinese weddings, Chinese New Year cleansing, cleaning grave sweeping in the Qingming Festival, the history of the Mid -Autumn Festival, chopsticks, watching Peking Opera and so on when eating. People around me always ask me "Have you been to China", or say to me, "China is a great country, many cities in China are getting more and more developed, and each city is very beautiful and convenient for transportation. If you If you have a chance, you should go once "... I often hear these words, but at that time, I was too young and I didn't take it in heart.

Until I entered a School of Architecture, I found that the words I heard from a young age have existed in the past years. I read a lot of Chinese architectural design books, whether it is the design of high -rise buildings, the internal design of the house, or various parks. Each design works are quite magnificent and have won many awards. Each building has its own uniqueness, and exquisitely shows all aspects of Chinese life. For example, the Arna Art Center, located in Qinhuangdao, was built in the sea, and the white wall echoed the sea. The rich art activities here attracted young people with unique personality. Because of art, they made Ania's simple building appearance appearance. It hides an interesting soul; and the Tianjin Binhai Library, which is one of the most closely related public buildings in the Tianjin Binhai Cultural Center project. Among them, there are 1200 readers' seats in the building floor to provide local residents with weekend leisure Entertainment place. I also want to read a book there and become one of the 1200 readers and enjoy the weekend time. At that time, I didn't learn Chinese and couldn't understand Chinese characters. I could only understand China through pictures and symbols. The more you know, the more you want to learn Chinese, until I can use Chinese characters to understand the content I see, and I can experience Chinese culture in person. This is my goal and wish. Although I have no chance to study Chinese in China now, I am always very happy when I study the preparatory course of Huaqiao University through the Internet. Teachers' lectures show me various textbooks, including practical and cultural classes, etc., as if returning to a child, returning to the time of listening to the story of the elders. Through learning, I learned many Chinese culture and life.

Today, I no longer meet with the elders, but I still remember those stories, and I also understand why when talking about China, their faces are always full of pride and happiness.

Why my choice is "China"

● (Indonesia) Huang Yanxiang

It's hard to imagine that I was not interested in Chinese, and I also thought that learning English was more important. From kindergarten to junior high school, I study in international schools, and most of the courses are learning English. In fact, I also take Chinese classes, but I do n’t take it seriously every time I class, so the Chinese foundation is not good.

I entered high school in 2016 because my school belongs to Buddhism school, so I have a deeper connection with Chinese. Every week, I go to the Buddhist temple to pray and read the Buddhist scriptures, and even the Buddhist scriptures are written in Chinese.

Since high school, I have gradually been influenced by Chinese culture, and I have also learned some basic Chinese knowledge, but I still pay more attention to my English learning and want to go to Australia to college. After graduating from high school in 2019, I applied for a university in Sydney through study abroad agencies, but at that time, because I was not old, I could not go to Australia to go to school directly. I had to wait a year and wait for me to go at the age of 18.

In 2020, the new crown epidemic suddenly broke out, and even the airport was suspended. Schools in various countries began to slowly enter the teaching of online courses. At that time, how could I take class online? How can this way of learning meet my wishes? It's really disappointing.

With the encouragement of my loved ones, I finally lived a difficult life and restored a good state. In that year, after listening to my father's suggestion, I learned how to do imported business from his friends, how to sell things online, how to import Chinese products and the like. Since then, I have discovered that Chinese is so important, and at that time, I also started investigating China's economic development. I think China's economy and infrastructure have developed very quickly. It can be said that no country is faster than China.

In the middle of 2020, I started to study Chinese carefully. After a year of tuition class, I entered the Fifth Class of Preparatory Education College of Overseas Chinese University. In a blink of an eye, the students were unknowingly from strange to familiar, and the fifth class became the class I was most reluctant to leave. Every day after day, January and January, every day in the preparatory class left me a good memory. Today, my Chinese level is getting better and better. From the beginning, I was not so familiar with Chinese, and now I have learned HSK 6. I really did not expect that I would make such great progress.

At the days when I started to study, I encountered a lot of difficulties: I couldn't keep up with the speed of the teacher's lecture, the hearing weak, the pronunciation was not standard, and I didn't even dare to say a word. But after a period of study, my listening, reading, grammar, pronunciation, writing, etc. all made great progress. My parents, siblings and friends were stunned.

In addition to the progress of learning, I also learned more about many Chinese historical stories, culture, and some special customs through cultural practice and cultural theory courses. We also have dance classes. This is a pretty interesting course, because we can contact some dance movements through this lesson, and then learn more about Chinese culture through dance movements. This is a very good experience for me.

Since entering the fifth class of the preparatory course, I have met many foreign friends. They are from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Japan, the Philippines and other countries. Although some classmates' mother tongue is Chinese, and some students have a poor Chinese foundation, everyone is very active to learn and treat others enthusiastically. Every time they chat with my classmates, they interact with me enthusiastically. We often help each other and learn from each other. If I encounter any difficulties in learning, they will help me without thinking.

After the study of the preparatory class, I will study a bachelor's degree in international Chinese education at OCT University. First use the one -year learning language, and the remaining three years of learning the major I chose -international Chinese education. In these four years, my study and research will be concentrated in the culture of Chinese and China. I want to put most of the first year's energy on learning Chinese. I will concentrate on studying and go all out to make progress quickly. I will communicate more with the Chinese and make friends with them to share their knowledge and culture with each other.

From the following year to the fourth year, I will do my best to focus on professional learning. I will join a research team to formulate research plans as much as possible. In the fourth year, I should be able to communicate with the Chinese more fluently and smoothly, and talk to them more confidently. I will also pay attention to the employment market in China or Indonesia. But the most important thing is that I was able to communicate in Chinese confident and fluent that year.

After graduating from Huaqiao University, I plan to go to Guangzhou to find some Chinese products, and then sell in the market in Indonesia. As we all know, Guangzhou is China's commodity trading center, and Indonesia is one of the most populated countries in the world. If the advantages of the two can be played, it will definitely contribute to many cooperation opportunities. The language and knowledge I have to talk about will help me talk and bargain with the seller. At the same time, learn how to import goods from one country to another, and establish a large market for selling Chinese products in Indonesia, and then sell it through online stores or physical stores to sell. Essence I hope that my business can do better and better, find more cooperation opportunities in China to further achieve my goal. At the same time, I hope that people can realize that Chinese is an interesting language, and it is also very important in the future world, because we know that Chinese is the language of the most people in the world as a mother tongue. I want to share the characteristics of Chinese and Chinese with everyone, and I hope to achieve my goal of studying in China through OCT University!

If you have a chance to come to China again, what do I want to do?

● (Philippines) Zeng Guangming

It was the first time I arrived in China in 2019. At that time, I studied in a university for two months. We study in the middle of the week and go out on weekends. Although I have been to China once, there are many regrets. If you have a chance to come to China again, I will do these things so that I can enjoy life in China.

First of all, I will work harder to learn Chinese. In China, I have a good language environment. Unfortunately, I didn't make good use of this opportunity at that time. Those who learn Chinese should study Chinese in China, because everyone will communicate with you in Chinese, and they can urge themselves to use the words and grammar they have learned.

I am now in the Philippines and attend the preparatory course of Huaqiao University through online courses. Although I have learned a lot of new content, I only use the knowledge I have learned during class and doing my homework. My surroundings are all elements of the Philippines, not China. I think if I learn Chinese in China, I will definitely make my learning progress rapidly. A foreign student studying Chinese in his own country must not be compared to studying directly in China because he can communicate with the people around him.

Secondly, I will communicate more with locals in China. No matter whether your personality is cheerful, when you come to China, a person who studies Chinese should communicate with the locals. In this way, you can use the knowledge you have learned. Unfortunately, at that time, I rarely communicated with Chinese friends.

What impressed me particularly was that one day, a stranger talked to me, but not only did I not answer, but I found my friend shyly and let him communicate with that person. I regret not being able to grasp the opportunity to practice my pronunciation, but now I discovered the importance of communicating with people to learning language. In addition, not afraid of saying wrong, it is also a learning attitude that needs to be maintained. If you find yourself wrong, you can apologize first, and then say it again. Learning Chinese should be bravely spoken. Finally, I will look for more opportunities to travel to understand China's humanistic style. When I was studying in China, I rarely went out to play, and often stayed in the dormitory and looked at my mobile phone. In the future, I won't do this. After returning to China, I found that I took very little photos when I was in China.

Affected by the epidemic, people can't travel at will now. I regret that I didn't seize the opportunity to walk more and take a look in China at that time. Now, I can only recall the beautiful days in China through photos. For me, it is not enough to take good memories in my heart. I will shoot my daily life, so that I can find a lot of memories through the album. And there are so many beautiful scenery in China, it is worthy of our watching, taking these beautiful scenery is also excellent.

The above are what I want to come to China. I used to have accumulated the foundation of learning Chinese and Chinese culture in China, so that I can better adapt to my study at OCT University. I now have a better understanding of the basic Chinese life and culture, but it is not enough to understand only through online courses.

I hope that the epidemic will end as soon as possible, and then we can go to China immediately to understand Chinese culture more deeply.

My fate with China

● (Malaysia) Huang Yanjun

I was ignorant when I was a kid, and thought that my country was where I was, Malaysia, the world. Later, I learned from my father's mouth that when he was a child, he often helped his grandmother to write to relatives in China. After receiving a letter from China, Dad would read the content of the letter to his grandmother, and felt the common emotions in another world. After listening to my father's childhood story, I realized that there was still a place outside, called China. And my fate with China was planted at the moment I was born in a Chinese family.

The Chinese in Malaysia are one of the three major nations in Malaysia, accounting for about 20%of their own population. Chinese is the mother tongue of Chinese. The Chinese families in Malaysia have also retained a complete Chinese cultural system and insisted on living in accordance with traditional customs. Many Chinese festivals are carried out in accordance with the customs of traditional Chinese festivals. The Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Qingming Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid -Autumn Festival, etc. are the festivals celebrated by the Chinese around the world. A reunion is very important for Chinese families. For example, eating the round dumplings in the winter solstice means that the family is round, and even a thousand miles can be tied to the family. The Chinese New Year's reunion meal, the dumplings of the Lantern Festival, and the moon cakes of the Mid -Autumn Festival symbolize the tradition of Chinese families paying attention to a reunion. The tomb sweeping in the Qingming Festival. The Dragon Boat Festival is an indispensable event for Chinese people to commemorate Qu Yuan.

After going to school, whether it was learned from the elders or from the historical books, it made me understand that every Chinese child in Malaysia had a "fate seed" of himself and China. Our ancestors come from China, which also means that our body flows from China. This made me yearn for the land that gave birth to our ancestors. I have always hoped that one day I can stand on the land where my ancestors live, and use every inch of skin to feel the hard -earned ancestors on this land, and use each of my senses to experience the warmth that this land brings them to them. Therefore, I use expectations and hard work every day to pour the "fate seeds" to strive for the opportunity to study in China.

Huang Tian lived up to the people, and my "fate seeds" germinated under the shining of Huaqiao University. I am honored to receive the "Silk Road" Chinese government scholarship and get the opportunity to study in China. Although we can only go online at our home during the epidemic period, this will not affect my longing for China. Even if it is just an online class, I can feel the enthusiasm, patience and care of the teachers through the cold screen. This made me want to go to China earlier to actually feel the real temperature of Huada.

The Chinese class has made my Chinese more authentic. Cultural classes make me know more about Chinese culture. China profile led me to have a preliminary understanding of everything in China. Strange ... with the pavement of these courses, I have confidence in my decision to choose to study in China. Studying at China University, with the encouragement of teachers and classmates, coupled with the embellishment of various competitions, I started to fantasize about the days when studying in China. Big tree, the day of flowering.

In addition to learning language, I chose an electronic information engineering as a undergraduate major. This is because my father is a mechanical engineer. Whenever he is working at home, I can always see my father fiddled with mechanical objects. Mother is a programmer. Living in such a family environment, my dream was influenced and gradually took root in this field. I fantasize that I can have a pair of universalists like my father. As long as the electrical appliances at home, I can repair the electrical appliances like a magician. Once the computer system is wrong, the mother will wave her fingers to start on the keyboard, and the computer will return to the beginning. Looking at my mother's operation of the computer, I felt handsome.

Therefore, I hope that in the future, I can learn something and glow in my professional field, just like my father and mother.

Unforgettable memories in life

● (Philippines) Qi Yanrui

If you ask me a year ago, what are the arrangements after graduating from high school? I will never answer that I want to go to Huaqiao University to learn Chinese. In fact, I have no goal before I study in the preparatory course in China. What the teacher asked me to do, I would do it. My classmates have decided to stay in the Philippines to study in college, and I think so too. Thinking back a few years ago, the teacher arranged an assignment to us, the title is: what kind of person we want to be, what major we want to study, what jobs do we want to study. I have thought about others. They want to be a doctor, engineer, clothing designer, etc., and I didn't know what I was going to do in the future.

When I was a kid, I had a wish to study in China, but because the family's economic conditions were not allowed, I gave up. I said it was giving up, but I have been looking forward to having the opportunity to study in China. On a sunny day, I just graduated from high school and I was filled out to apply for a college form. My mother suddenly asked me if I had the willingness to go to China to study undergraduate. Before I had been reading the matter of reading, I had no future plan. But now, I have a goal -go to China to study in college. In order to realize my ideals, you must first learn Chinese and improve your Chinese level. Unfortunately, I can't go to China, I can only class online. Although it is a bit difficult to learn Chinese, and the journey is far away. But as the saying goes, the champion of the cold window for ten years -bitterness and sweetness, learning Chinese is just my first step, I must stick to it. I occasionally recalls the first day of class through the Internet in China, September 6, 2021. At that time, the students were strange to each other and seemed a little embarrassed. Thanks to the teachers who are warmly welcomed, we are slowly familiar with. The teacher divides us into several groups, and we will talk about after we do the exercises. Do you know what is the hottest topic between us classmates? let me tell you! "Have you eaten?" It seems that everyone is inseparable from food. And every time we have a greeting, we can slowly transfer to completely different topics from "Do you eat?" From everyone's love to talk about pets at home, and chatting with classmates is my little fun now.

For me, the students in the four classes of the preparatory course are particularly cute and have been seriously treating their studies. I also thank the teachers of Huaqiao University for holding many extra -curricular activities for us. I didn't dare to participate in the competition before, but with the encouragement of teachers and classmates, I participated in dubbing competitions, calligraphy competitions, etc. With so many powerful opponents, I am far worse than them. However, I think the purpose of participating in the competition is not to get the rankings, but to feel some fresh things and accumulate rich experience.

Although I didn't take a long time in the preparatory course, and I was only online, this brief experience would become one of the most memorable memories in my life. When I become an old grandmother, I will miss this beautiful time.
