Paris Olympic Table Tennis Project Qualification System Release

According to the Xinhua News Agency on July 12, the International Olympic Committee and the ITTF recently released the 2024 Paris Olympic Table Tennis Project Qualification System. The number of athletes is still 172, and the qualification competition will be launched in June 2023.

The Paris Olympics table tennis competition will include men's and women's singles, men and women's groups and mixed doubles. Athletes still have 172 participants, 86 men and women, including 6 host places and 2 participating seats. The quota of the Olympic Committee in each country and region is 3 men and women.

There are 16 teams in the team competition. Each country and region Olympic Committee can send 3 players to form a team. There are 16 pairs of mixed doubles competitions, and each country and region Olympic Committee can send 1 pair of combinations. In terms of singles, according to the remaining quotas of the mixed doubles quota, at most 70 men and women each can participate in the singles competition, and the Olympic Committee of each country and region can send a maximum of 4 players (two men and women). The host will receive two groups (one male, female each), 4 single places (2 men, women 2), and 1 mixed dual quota.

The Paris Olympics table tennis competition will be held from July 27 to August 10, 2024. The first final time is July 30. The competition venue is Hall 4 of the South Paris Arena.

The table tennis project first debuted in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At that time, there were 4 small items of men's, women's singles and doubles. In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the doubles match was changed to a group match, and the total number of small items was still 4. The Tokyo Olympics has added a mixed doubles, with a total of 5 projects, ensuring the same number of men and women's players.
