Later generations were mostly named "Bao Ning" as the name of the military town, political district, or the year of the emperor.

In the first year of Tangxing and Yuan Dynasty (784), the East Display was changed to the Baoning Army and governed the Taiyuan government.

In the first year of Chunhua (990) in the Northern Song Dynasty, Luzhou was given the Baoning Army.

In the 19th year of Liao Yingli (the first year of Baoning, 969), Liaomu Zong Yelu was killed by the waiter, and Yeluxian led the first time to arrive. ", Make the Liao State avoid turmoil, keep the original peace and consolidate it.

In July of the sixth year of Baoyou (1258) in the Southern Song Dynasty, Meng Ge led the army to capture the city of Puzhou. After the Southern Song Dynasty West Road appeased, and Yang Doyuan, the chief soldier of Lizhou, settled in the Marshal of Dongchuan.

From the 13th year of Yuan Shizu (1276), he was promoted to Baoning Prefecture. He jurisdiction over 7 counties, southern, southern, Cangxi, Xishui, Xinjing, New Deal, Fengguo, and Xinsin and Xiaoning. Later, the two states of Xinshang and Xiaoning were merged into the Zhongxian County, and the three counties of Xishui, Xintai, and New Deal were merged into the southern county.

From the 20th year of Yuan Shizu (1283), the Marshal of Dongchuan was changed to Paining Road. Soon after, he was still resumed into Marshal Mansion and withdrew it.

In the Ming Dynasty, there were 8 counties and 8 counties in Baoning Prefecture, namely: Bayzhou (Tongjiang County, Nanjiang County), Jianzhou (Zi Zi County), Lizhong County, Cangxi County, Southern County, Guangyuan County, Zhaohua County.

In the three years of Shunzhi (1646), the Qing army entered Sichuan and captured Baoning. The Qing court appointed Kechen to be the first Paulin Prefecture in Qing Dynasty. Baoning has also become the reputation of Langzhong for a long time.
