The website of the Russian International Affairs Council was published on July 7th, entitled "G20 is not an enlarged version of G7", the author is Andre Coultinov. The article is excerpted as follows:

The Foreign Minister's Meeting of the G20 (G20) this year was held under extremely difficult political conditions. The reason is that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. From a larger perspective, the confrontation between Russia and the West has reached an unprecedented level.

The seven -way Group (G7), NATO and the EU summit held recently showed the high cohesion of the West. Obviously, Western leaders have done their homework for this Minister's meeting, and they will actively promote their strategic goals at the forum.

The West hopes to turn the G20 into the natural continuation of the G7, so that the G7 will set the main schedule for the 20 most influential international community participants, and then through these participants to influence a wider international community.

The Foreign Minister of the Group of 20th was held on the 7th in Bali, Indonesia (Russia Satellite Agency)

If the G7 can restore the status of the core supervisors of the former international affairs, if the G20 is willing to play the function of "transmitting belts", the world may return to the single pole model at the end of the 20th century. The United States will return to the top of the tower of the Pyramid, and other G7 members will form the second floor of global governance, and the G20 is on the lower third layer.

However, these plans are likely not to work. The reason is that today's world is very different from the end of the last century: the power balance between the West and other parts of the world has seriously biased the latter. The reality is that the G20 is never, and it will never be the extended version of the G7. At the same time, the G7 has always been, and will still be an exclusive club of Western democratic countries, and the G20 is an inclusive and representative group composed of major economies in the world.

Internal diversification is still one of the main sources of G20's attractiveness. This is obviously not available in G7 or NATO. Diversification and representativeness are assets that G20 cannot give up easily. For example, although the G20's non -Western members hold a different attitude towards Russia's special military operations, they know that they will create a dangerous precedent in the group in Moscow or resist Putin. They want to avoid this.

This is why G20 is not concerned about international security issues with controversial and potential explosive, but a united economic-financial issue. Although the security and development are difficult to divide today, for the G20, they work with the United Nations Security Council, rather than trying to replace them in the global and regional security sector. It is more logical and promising.

The reasonable move of G7 is that the interests of the West and non -West are far from always the starting point. Avoid imposing the agenda that only reflects the interests of the G7 to the G20, and strive to seek mutual compromise in trade, investment, and international assistance plans.
