It was suggested that Zhang Lan set up a revolutionary and democratic school in Nanchong, his hometown of Nanchong as a democratic person to cultivate talents with useful talents in the country. On July 18, 1937, Zhang Lan invited the original professor of Peking University Liang Shuming to set up a Sichuan Province Nanchong Public Education Museum in Nanchong. On September 30, 1949, at the first plenary session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Lan was elected as the vice chairman of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China.
