The new museum of the Tibet Museum opens today, with 520,000 cultural relics

Today (July 8, 2022) The new museum of the Tibet Museum is officially opened, including two exhibitions: "Snowy Long Song -Tibet History and Culture" and "People Close to the Sun -Tibet Folk Culture".2700 pieces (set), of which more than 600 pieces (sets) were exhibited for the first time.

The Tibet Museum was built in 1999. It is the first comprehensive museum in Tibet, the national first -level museum and the national AAAA -level tourist attraction.In October 2017, as a major cultural strong area and cultural benefit project during the "Thirteenth Five -Year Plan" period of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Tibet Museum's reconstruction and expansion project was officially launched, with a total investment of 660 million yuan.

After 5 years of construction, the construction area of the new museum is nearly 62,000 square meters, which is nearly 5 times more than the old museum. The maximum reception volume of the audience can reach 7,000 daily.There are 520 cultural relics in the new museum, of which nearly 40,000 cultural relics (sets) have high historical, artistic and scientific value.
