The intercity railway of the South River is an important part of the Yangtze River Delta Railway Network. The design speed is 350 kilometers per hour, and the new main line is 278.53 kilometers in length. Construction was started in October 2018. The line starts from Nanjing South Station in the west, passing through Nanjing Jiangning District, Qinhuai District, Zhenjiang Jurong City, Changzhou Jintan, Wujin, Economic Development Zone, Wuxi Jiangyin City, Suzhou Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang City, and Taicang Station. There are 8 stations in Nanjing South, Jurong, Jintong, Wujin, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, and Taicang. Among them, Nanjing South Station is existing stations.

Nanjing South Railway Station is the main passenger station of the Nanjing Railway Hub. It is divided into three stations: Beijing -Shanghai, Shanghai -Han Rong, Ninghang and Ning'an. The three busy lines of the Beijing -Shanghai high -speed rail, Ninghang High -speed Railway, and Ning'an high -speed rail will gather here.
