A new recent study published in "Strategic Management Journal" shows that narcissistic bosses may hinder the company's internal knowledge sharing and cooperation.

Researchers conducted a six -week survey of the heads of 127 departments and their deputy in a Chinese headhunting company. They measured the narcissistic personality characteristics of the person in charge, the complexity and vitality of the market, the competitiveness between the department, the willingness to share and exchange.

The results show that the narcissism of the person in charge is related to the sharing between the department, that is, the narcissistic boss is likely to reduce the internal knowledge sharing and exchange of the company. This trend will be weakened in a rapidly changing or complex market environment, but when the competition between departments is fierce, narcissists are more inclined to distinguish themselves from other departments, thereby hinder the sharing of knowledge.
