Liu Zhipeng is a native of Hong Kong. As a historian, Liu Zhipeng said that standing in the long history, 25 years are short for Hong Kong. After the Two Opium War in the Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong was occupied by the United Kingdom for more than 100 years until it returned to the motherland in 1997. From the "Hong Kong Local Chronicle Symposium" in 2004, the establishment of the Hong Kong and South China History Research Department of Lingnan University in 2005, and the establishment of the Hong Kong Local History Office in 2007 to launch the Hong Kong Local Chronicles and Repair Project. Liu Zhipeng stepped up the research team step by step, hoping to complete the "Hong Kong Chronicle" and make up for the gap in Hong Kong's local history.

"Mainland cities have rich experience in cultivation. We went to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo and many other cities in the Mainland to exchange scriptures." Liu Zhipeng said that between 2007 and 2017 A total of more than 20 research projects, and the total number of works published more than 5 million words.

After years of hard work and preparation of Liu Zhipeng's team, Liu Zhipeng's team led the Hong Kong Unity Foundation to set up the Hong Kong Local Hall Center and officially launched the local preparation of Hong Kong. In January 2021, the first book "Hong Kong Chronicle", "Hong Kong Chronicle", officially met with readers, filling the gap of Hong Kong's local history.

When the publisher got the first "Hong Kong Chronicle", Liu Zhipeng's mood was quite complicated. "It's like pulling a child for hard work. After all the hardships, he finally saw his adults."

Young people must understand their "roots"

For Liu Zhipeng, knowing where his "root" is of great significance. He said that on the one hand, it is to understand tradition. China has thousands of years of history and culture. Many times, it has unknowingly affected our values ​​and judgments; on the other hand, we know where we should go. China has gone from ancient times. In the middle of the 19th century, it encountered a calamity that had not been seen for thousands of years. It was not until the first half of the 20th century, and then he had the opportunity to go from a poor and backward situation to pursuing national rejuvenation. After the chairman of the Citizen and Social Development Committee (General Science and Technology Reform) last year, Liu Zhipeng actively promoted the reform of the general science and technology to become a citizen and social development section, allowing students to conduct general education in three years in high school.
