Electricity is the source of life of communication base stations. Once the power outage is stopped, the fate of the communication base station will be rescued by the battery. The battery plays a key role in maintaining the normal operation of the communication system and is the last line of defense for the normal operation of the communication system. Each base station has a battery as a reserve power supply for special circumstances such as reserve power and response to the abnormal power grid.
Judging from the current usage situation, the battery of base stations generally decreases too fast and has a short service life. Most manufacturers have the design life of the battery for more than 10 years, and the normal service life should be guaranteed for 8 years. However, only 3 to 5 years can be used in actual use. Termination.
As a good employee who is dedicated (strong to survive), you must learn how to extend the life of the base station battery.

The working principle of battery storage battery
The working principle of the battery is shown in the figure below.
During discharge: lead (PBO2) of the positive plate (PBO2) and the sponge -shaped lead (PB) of the negative plate react with the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte to generate lead sulfate (PBSO4), and the concentration of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the electrolyte is reduced.
At the time of charging, lead sulfate (PBSO4) resumed leading lead (PBO2) and sponge -like lead (PB) through the oxidation reaction, and the concentration of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the electrolyte increased.

Factors affecting the life of the battery
Starting from the working principle of the battery, the main factors affecting the life of the base station's battery life.
Ambient temperature
If the temperature is too high, the internal water loss (evaporation of the water) is intensified, and the saturation of the electrolyte decreases the battery capacity and shorten the service life.
The picture below is a diagram of the life temperature and the life of the battery. The higher the ambient temperature, the shorter the battery life.
Number of discharge times, frequency
Frequent power outage, long power outage time, and irregular power outage time, so that the base station battery is discharged without sufficient charging after discharge, and the battery has been in a state of unchanging for a long time. This situation will cause cumulative losses of battery capacity, increase sulfuric acid consumption, and the battery capacity will decrease in a short period of time, which is the main reason for the decrease in the battery capacity too fast and shortening the service life.
Depth of discharge
The relationship between the battery discharge depth (the percentage of the power from the battery accounts for the rated capacity) and the number of charging and discharge cycles are referred to the following table.
It can be seen from the table above that the service life of the battery cannot be generally generalized, and it should be dependent on the specific use. To a certain extent, the life of the battery is determined by the number of cycles of its charging and discharge, not measured by how many years it is used. If the battery is not charged when the battery is often used, that is, the depth of the discharge is large, then the battery charging discharge cycle is small and the life span is short.
Battery management parameter
The parameters of the battery management include the battery capacity, the charging current coefficient, the average charging voltage, the floating charge voltage, the condition of the lower electrocomputer, the condition of the automatic content, and the temperature compensation voltage. If these parameters are set in unreasonable, it will affect the life of the battery.
For example, set up floating charging voltage. The floating charging voltage is too low, and the battery is in the state of owed charging for a long time. It will not only form irreversible sulfate in the battery plate, but also form a high resistance gear between the active substances and the plate grid. Increase and decrease in capacity, resulting in the early termination of the battery life. The floating charging voltage is too high, and the battery is in a long -term charging state, which will increase the charging current. Not only will the safety valve be opened frequently, which will increase the water loss, the capacity will be attenuated, but it will also make the heat generated in the battery be too late to dispel it. The temperature will be the temperature. Stepping, forming a vicious circle, causing thermal discharge (battery expansion), in addition, the corrosion of the plate grid will accelerate, resulting in the early termination of the battery life.
Daily maintenance
After a period of running for a period of time, an individual backward battery may appear (the end voltage of the end voltage is less than 200 MV than the end voltage of the normal battery). If it is not processed in time, the performance of the backward battery is worse and worse until it fails. The failure battery can cause other good batteries to slowly fail over time, and then scrap the entire battery.

How to extend the battery life of the base station
According to the factors that cause the battery life of the base station, provide the following methods to extend the life of the battery in combination with the actual situation.
Prevent high temperature
For indoor power supply, the battery is installed in the computer room or cabinet, then the air conditioner needs to be installed to ensure that the temperature of the computer room is at the right temperature (25 ° C).
For outdoor power supply, the battery is installed in the cabinet, so it is necessary to install the heat dissipation equipment in the cabinet to ensure that the working temperature of the battery is within the appropriate range.
Supplement the battery in time
After the power supply is opened, the manual control executes the balanced charging of the battery, and the balanced charging time is ≥10 hours. For stations that are frequently stopped, the battery charging current can be increased to shorten the charging time of the battery and increase the power that is charged in the early stage of charging.
Prevent the battery from excessive discharge
In the early stage of the power supply plan, according to the load current, combined with the battery discharge curve to configure the appropriate battery capacity, avoid the battery storage of the battery within the required time. The general principle is that the capacity released by the battery after the specified time is ≤80%. After the power supply is opened, if the battery is not used temporarily, all the loads of the battery need to be disconnected to make the battery open. Avoid the battery discharge, resulting in a decrease in the battery capacity.
Reasonably set up battery management parameters
Reasonably set parameters such as battery capacity, charging current coefficient, average charging voltage, floating charging voltage, lowering electrocable voltage, conditions for automatic content, and temperature compensation voltage.
Taking the floating charge voltage as an example, the setting of the floating charge voltage needs to be adjusted according to the changes in the ambient temperature. The following table is the reference value of the floating charge voltage according to the temperature of different ambients.
Regular maintenance
Generally, the battery is maintained every three months, mainly to check whether the battery in the battery pack is leakage, whether there is a "drum stomach", whether the battery is existed, whether the battery connection is rust and the fixing screw loose looseness Whether the ambient temperature is normal. Only by discovering and processing in time can we ensure the normal life of the battery.
The price of the base station battery is expensive. The battery capacity drops to 80%of its nominal capacity, and its service life is terminated, and it needs to be replaced.
