Continuation is a time phenomenon. But this alone is not enough to understand the entire meaning of continuity.

Continuing is continuous, but unlike continues. Continue is a continuation of a time period, reflecting a continuity, or invariance. Continue in continuity, but not the same. Continuing is the successive two time periods, but it also emphasizes the continuity and invariance of the two time periods.
