[Russia] Oleg Ivanov: BRICS cooperation, attractive choice

Since the outbreak of Russia and Ukraine in February this year, the United States and its allies have imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia, trying to solve the country from the international community. However, this policy is contrary to his wish. Former Italian Prime Minister Berluskini acknowledged that the West was isolated from Russia, but it also wasolated in other parts of the world. His statement conveyed a signal, that is, the differences between the Western world and the non -Western world are expanding and are developing in a more complicated direction than before.

In this context, the role of the BRICS cooperation mechanism has become more important than ever. First of all, it is different from Western group -style small circles. There is no existence to strengthen its own will in the dominant country of people, and can maintain independence in political and economic decisions. Second, the theme of the era of peace and development in the international community has not changed. All countries hope that the world can be less split and confrontation, and more stable and development. When the West made mistakes and destroy the regional situation stable, the BRICS cooperation mechanism is a kind of insurance in other parts of the world.

Alliances such as the Seven Kingdoms Group, NATO, "Four Side Mechanisms" or "Oukus" are the leading positions of western countries led by the United States. At the recent three -way meeting of the Shangri -La dialogue, the Defense Director of the United States, Japan and South Korea said that they looked at the challenges facing the rules -based order in the Indo -Pacific region in a very similar way, and based on their common interests and common values, they were determined to adopt them. Actions strengthen the deterrence and stability of the Indo -Pacific region. In fact, these futile attempts are designed to isolate non -Western countries and push them to the edge of world politics.

On the eve of the fourteenth meeting of the BRICS leaders, we should re -examine this influential organizational entity and the participation of Russia. Russia believes that the activities of the BRICS countries should be designed to improve the efficiency of entities through unity and interaction. It should be inclusive. The rise of groups and developing countries in emerging markets is an irreversible trend in the 21st century. The BRICS countries came into being in this historical tide. In the face of increasingly fierce strategic competition, the partners of Russia and their BRICS countries all believe that it is necessary to make global governance institutions more representative and to participate in non -Western countries. More importantly, the majority of emerging market economies and developing countries should participate in global decision -making. In this regard, the BRICS cooperation mechanism will be a guarantee of this opportunity.

Now other countries in the world are increasing with the reliability of Western countries. Recently, Turkish President Erdogan also acknowledged that politics should not trust Western countries. For the non -Western world, the BRICS cooperation mechanism is a more reliable partner. As the proverb says, don't put all the eggs in a basket. Obviously, Western baskets are not the only and best choice today. For those who are disappointed in Western collectives, there is another attractive choice, which is the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
