On September 22, the construction of the Huaihong Xinhe Irrigation District, Anhui Province, with a total investment of 10.4 billion yuan. At this point, all the six new irrigation district projects that the State Council focused on this year have started.

Huaihong Xinhe is an important tributary of the left bank of the Huaihe River, with a total area of ​​12,500 square kilometers. After the completion of Huaihong Xinhe in 1999, it was better played with comprehensive functions such as flood division, drainage, shipping, and water supply. In order to maximize the irrigation function of Huaihong Xinhe, after several years of hard work, in 2012, Huaihong Xinhe Irrigation District was included in the "National Modern Irrigation Development Plan". 150 major water conservancy projects are one of the key projects required by the Ministry of Water Resources to start construction this year.

The Xinhe Irrigation District of Huaihong is the largest river irrigation district in Anhui. The irrigation district is from the south of the Huaihe River and the lower reaches of the vortex river. Guzhen County, Wuhe County, and Huai Shang District have an area of ​​3850 square kilometers. The design irrigation area is 3.43 million mu, of which 1.71 million acres of irrigation area are improved, and the irrigation area is 1.72 million mu. The project is mainly agricultural irrigation, combined with waterlogging, and takes into account urban water supply and improves the ecological environment of the water. The construction period is 48 months. The project will play an important role in improving farmers' income, ensuring the safety of national food, and actively exerting the role of water conservancy effective investment.

The six newly -built large -scale irrigation district projects promoted by the State Council this year are Jiangxi Province, Daji and Meijiang Irrigation District, Great Tengxia Gorge, Longyun Irrigation District of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Nioling Irrigation District, Hainan Province, and Huaihong Xinhe Irrigation Zone in Anhui Province.
