Wang Yi introduced the positive achievements of China to implement the global development initiative

Xinhua News Agency, New York, September 20 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) On September 20, 2022, local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted the Ministerial Meeting of the "Friends Group of Global Development Initiative" in New York.

Wang Yi said that the global development initiative has achieved a leap from "foundation" to "framework", from "freehand" to "gongbi painting". China and international partners have made three efforts to implement the initiative:

The first is to build a cooperation platform. China work with all parties to build a cooperation network in the fields of agriculture, education, resistance, and response. There are 150 institutions in nearly 40 countries and regions. The China -Pacific Island Country Copper Copy of Climate Change Cooperation has been established. China has jointly produced new crown vaccines with 13 countries, including nine "friends groups" countries. We have organized more than 1,000 periods of capacity building projects to provide more than 40,000 training for the "friend group" country.

The second is to increase resource investment. The "Global Development and South -South Cooperation Fund" has landed and provided support for global development initiative cooperation projects. China actively participated in the increase in capital of the International Development Association and the Global Environment Fund, and officially launched the third South -South Cooperation Trust Fund in China -the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, which made due contributions to increasing international development resources.

The third is to cope with urgent challenges. The global development initiative will reduce poverty reduction as one of the key areas, and cooperation projects have tilt towards the people's livelihood fields such as poverty reduction, food, and hygiene. The international civil poverty reduction cooperation network has joined the first batch of 17 countries and regions. The "Friends Group" recently showed a common claim on the Food Security issue and issued a collective voice. Since the beginning of this year, China has implemented and will continue to provide emergency food assistance to developing countries.
