To cope with energy shortage, German solar energy will start 1.5GW "crisis bidding"!

Facing the challenge of energy shortage, Germany once again increased its support for photovoltaic.

The German Federal Networks Bureau said that in order to increase the downturn in the German solar field, it will hold an additional bidding for 1.5GW solar development. Participants can submit project development proposals before January 15 next year.

According to the announcement, the scale of proposed projects should not exceed 100MW. After getting the Internet electricity price, the proposed solar project to win the government's award must be completed within nine months.

The upcoming bidding is also called "crisis bidding" because it is held in response to the energy crisis that is commonly existed in Germany due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In April 2022, Germany released the "Easter Package Program", which increased the proportion of renewable energy in the energy structure to 80%in 2030 and 100%in 2035.

The challenge of insufficient project subscription

Despite the promotion of rights, the German government's new bidding measures have also caused some criticism. The German Solar Association 'BSW-Solar' said that the time limit provided by German agencies to complete the construction of solar projects is too short and unrealistic. He also said that there are some land restrictions that do not allow solar projects to be completed in time, and these restrictions need to be relaxed.

The German Solar Association said that many Federal State in Germany has not yet opened arable land and grassland in poor German areas, which hinders the development of solar power projects. Therefore, the potential development venues of developers' solar power stations are limited.

The Federal Network Bureau failed to successfully allocate all the planned capacity mentioned in the previous solar tenders. In the last bidding distribution, the Federal Networks Bureau could only distribute 700MW from 1126MW planned earlier this year.
