I learned afterwards that this person was Qiu Huizuo, deputy minister of the Eighth Route Army.

That morning, I found Lin Biao's residence. It was on a very secluded slope. There were no people around, no houses, and relatively wide and flat. He sent Comrade Ren Nong to Lin Biao's letter in. After a while, Lin Biao's wife came out to let me enter the room. Lin Biao was pacing in the room, and this was the second time I saw him. Mrs. Lin Biao handed me a cup of tea. Lin Biao motioned for me to sit down. He simply asked about the situation of some troops, and then wrote a letter to let me take it to the Xi'an Eighth Route Army Office to find Director Lin Boqu. I resigned from the letter and rushed to Xi'an the next day.

In the Xi'an Eighth Route Army Office, I met Director Lin Boqu. Director Lin is an old predecessor for our army. As early as the Central Soviet Area, he worked in the General Supply Department of the Red Army. At that time, I met Lin Lao. When he met this time, he seemed to be older and thinner than before, but he was very good. I came to Director Lin's office, and Director Lin was in the case. Seeing me coming in, Director Lin greeted him enthusiastically with me, and said happily, "Welcome, welcome! You have worked hard in front of you, sit down and talk."
