On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong, Direct News launched a series of interviews with the "Hong Kong Celebrities Seeing the 25th Anniversary", inviting more than a dozen people from all walks of life in Hong Kong to see the development and changes of Hong Kong for 25 years from their perspectives, experience the new weather in Hong Kong, and feel the new weather in Hong Kong, and feel the new weather in Hong Kong. New opportunities and new hope. In this issue, Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Forty years ago, when Deng Xiaoping explained the idea of "one country, two systems" to Mrs. Sachel, used a very vivid metaphor. After Hong Kong returned to the motherland, "Ma Zhao runs, stocks fry, dance." In the 25th year of return, in the past 1/4 century, the lives of Hong Kong citizens were still "horses running, stocks frying, and dancing." This is a promise of the motherland to implement the "one country, two systems" and maintaining the unchanged lifestyle of Hong Kong. Since joining the Jockey Club in 1998, Yingjiabai has witnessed more possibilities to give the Hong Kong Jockey Club under the unique advantages of "one country, two systems".
Over the past 25 years, the Hong Kong Jockey Club has flourished. Under the unique advantages of "one country, two systems", it has created a new world. As of now, more than one million people have been watched and participated in each horse racing day, and each year's Hong Kong International Day, it will be broadcast to 80 countries and regions for "horse fans" to watch.
The Jockey Club will benefit the citizens through its charity trust fund and become one of the unique advantages of Hong Kong. In the past year, Jockey Club Charitable donations have reached about 4.5 billion Hong Kong dollars, and have invested about 528 projects. It is not only Hong Kong's largest charity donation agency, but also one of the top ten charity donors in the world. Hong Kong society has become more diverse and richer for a large number of projects funded by the Jockey Club. His contributions have been affirmed and recognized by the government, and they have talked about Hong Kong citizens.
For 25 years, Jockey Club has been an important bridge for exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland. In order to cooperate with the 2008 Beijing Olympics hosted by the country, the Jockey Club fully supports the SAR government to host Olympic equestrian competitions in Hong Kong, and then provides professional support for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. Area. On this basis, Yingjiabai believes that it can develop further and build a high -standard training center in Conghua. Horses from Hong Kong can go back and forth through the channels of the "horses without epidemic" area. The most anticipated thing in Yingjiabai in the future is related to Conghua: "One of the things I look forward to is the first regular game we will hold on the Chinese track of Conghua. We will design the first complete and sustainable horse racing field , Regularly holding Hong Kong horse racing, international horse racing, and use it as a world -class entertainment project. "
Yingjiabai told reporters that he was a horse. The favorite movement was a horse racing. He was associated with the horse and the Jockey Club. He was doomed. In the interview, Yingjiabai talked about the term "energy" many times. In his opinion, horse racing is a very energy and vibrant movement. Hong Kong is a city full of energy and vitality. He said: I firmly believe that "one country, two systems", and I am always confident in the future of Hong Kong.
Here are the interview records.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daiyi: Hong Kong Jockey Club has a long history and witnessed the development of the city of Hong Kong. When China -British negotiations were negotiated that year, some people were worried that the economic prosperity after the return of Hong Kong would be affected. At that time, the Beijing authorities put forward a sentence: "Ma Zhao runs, dances and jumps", which largely eliminate the doubts of these people. From 1998, you have been associated with the Hong Kong Jockey Club. From your perspective, how did the Jockey Club develop in Hong Kong for 25 years?
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: Deng Xiaoping once said a very famous sentence: "Horse Run". I think this allows Hong Kong citizens to relax -their favorite entertainment activities will continue. I personally think that this gives the Hong Kong Jockey Club a unique opportunity. Let us find a new identity, to become the world leader in everything we do.
In 1998, horse racing was not internationally recognized large -scale events. We let the horse races out of Hong Kong, go to the world, and become one of the top international events. In 1998, the Hong Kong Jockey Club had only Hong Kong horses, did not participate in any international horse racing group, and did not have an international management team. And under such conditions, we grew into a world -class horse racing organization. The number of horses in Hong Kong only accounts for 0.8%of the number of horse racing around the world, but 9%of the top racer comes from here. We have world -class events, including 12 international first -level competitions each year.
Integrity is the key to maintaining the highest standard of horse racing. Everything we do is to pursue the world -class level. With the continuous improvement of this ability, the taxation contribution of the Jockey Club has continued to increase. We now pay nearly 25 billion taxes to the SAR government. Based on Hong Kong, we are one of the world's largest charitable donations. The number we donate each year is 4.5 billion, and we donate 3.5 billion yuan to the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The Jockey Club aims to build a better society for Hong Kong through horse racing. Under the new structure, we can truly fully develop, let us really go to the world, contribute to Hong Kong and the country.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daizheng: You just mentioned the contribution of the Hong Kong Jockey Club to Hong Kong. Can you ask us to give us a few examples and talk about it?
Yingjiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: The horse racing will have a purpose, that is, to promote the development of Hong Kong. Everything we do is solve the problem. We contribute to society, one of which is to stabilize the legal income tax in Hong Kong. The Jockey Club has contributed huge taxes, (nearly close to) as much as 25 billion. Therefore, from an economic point of view, this has created a competitive advantage for our industry. In terms of charity contribution, we know Hong Kong's needs very well. If you go to Hong Kong to drive, you can see the logo of the Jockey Club everywhere, from the clinic to the university, to the sports facilities. The annual charitable donations of the Jockey Club reached about 4.5 billion, becoming one of the top ten charitable donations in the world. We are particularly concerned about the areas of the elderly and aging, the development of adolescents and children. Only in this way can we have the ability to build a healthy society. In the past year, the donation of 4.5 billion has invested more than 500 projects, and this is what we really hope to contribute to Hong Kong's better prospects. Some donations have benefited the Hong Kong people a lot.
Many people don't know that we also donate to Ocean Park, Hong Kong Stadium, and the current Hong Kong Jockey Club. The medical conditions in Hong Kong were not so good before. We also donate to the Central District Police Station and historical cultural relics activation projects as the top priority of the city. I am proud of the creation of these charity projects, especially in some ways to help those unfortunate people achieve self -development and find new occupations. I think it is very important that the money we donate is not important, and the impact is important. Personal foolish opinion: Hong Kong Jockey will affect the lives of all Hong Kong people. We are very satisfied with being able to make such contributions.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daixun: You just said that the Jockey Club did not just donate. During the new crown epidemic, the Jockey Club actively made many good deeds. Please introduce this situation with us.
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: Regarding the fifth wave of Hong Kong epidemic, people may need to learn from our management organization experience to respond to such a public health crisis. In February 2019, we established a guidance principle to deal with this public health crisis. At the moment of the epidemic, any activity of our activities can not cause public health risks, and any of our activities cannot bring hidden health hazards to our employees, members, and customers.
We have established a daily risk assessment to adjust our activities based on the current risk situation. We found out very early that to some extent, the fifth wave of epidemic is the main challenge of our activities. Therefore, we narrowed the scale of some activities to a minimum, only maintaining the state of horses, maintaining the company's operation, and continuously contributed to the community. Therefore, follow the principles of early discovery and early tests, determine the positive personnel, then track it, and achieve early isolation. We can detect 1,500 people every day during the epidemic. In this way, we can find the infected person as soon as possible and isolate it, which will not affect the company's operation.
On this basis, we can continue to hold horse racing activities to contribute to society. Many non -governmental organizations help people with difficulties in society. We can guide an organization with 22,000 people through this health crisis. None of us employees were infected. The number of infections in our company is much lower than other places because we can isolate infected personnel as soon as possible. And this is based on our mutual trust and extremely effective communication between us and employees. We are in love with employees, instead of putting profit first, but also to promote our role in promoting Hong Kong's social development.
I think we can make other contributions only by managing to continue to operate without risk. With this ability to continue operations, we can establish contact with many non -governmental organizations. For example, we can see that the problem of transitional poverty in the fifth wave of epidemic needs to be resolved because these people have lost their jobs. With the help of non -governmental organizations, we provide food assistance. We provide more than 8,6200 people with 12.3 million meals. We provide help for a large number of families without the Internet, allowing their children to participate in school activities smoothly. By setting up 100 million emergency assistance funds to help about 139 non -governmental organizations go to all parts of society, provide them with detection equipment, masks, disinfection tools, etc. Essence Therefore, we really have a lot of help in the society. Especially for those where the situation is severe, it can better cope with challenges.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daiyi: The fifth wave of epidemic seemed to have passed, but the city in Hong Kong was far from being relieved. Next, how to revitalize economic prosperity is a question of everyone's attention. How do you think of the development prospects of Hong Kong, will its international financial status be affected?
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: I think Hong Kong has always had a strong toughness and dare to break through. We are facing major challenges such as geopolitics and economic development, but I firmly believe that "one country, two systems". Especially if you look at the Hong Kong area in the Greater Bay Area, this is a unique opportunity for us and can be connected with one of the driving force of the Mainland economy. In particular, Shenzhen gave us a unique opportunity to expand Hong Kong's economic activities. Therefore, I am very optimistic about the future of Hong Kong, and the same is true of the Jockey Club. We were the first organization to embrace the Greater Bay Area. At that time, the Greater Bay Area was also known as the Pearl River Delta. Under very strategic planning, we can see a clearer future in the Greater Bay Area, and the Greater Bay Area will inevitably usher in a more vigorous development. We have contributed to the Guangzhou Asian Games. We can develop further and build a high -standard training center in Conghua. This training center is based in the first "horses -free" area. "The channels of the district are back and forth. This is the future of Hong Kong horse racing, and it can even meet higher global standards. The horse racing will be missing. This is a new opportunity. This is not just an opportunity for Jockey Club. I think this is a unique opportunity for Hong Kong. We must seize this opportunity to truly contribute to the development of Hong Kong and the country.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daizheng: You just mentioned the Guangdong -Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area, then we want to ask you to talk about your views on the development of the Guangdong -Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area, and how the Hong Kong Jockey Club promotes it in the Greater Bay Area. The integration and development of the horse industry?
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: As a Jockey Club to establish a training center in Guangzhou, we hope to achieve the regular season of horse racing in 2026. We have trained a very dedicated and well -trained employee team in the Greater Bay Area. We have all education and vocational training resources to promote equestrian development. And what do you need to develop a national equestrian? You need to understand the horses, you need specific skills. Therefore, we believe that the Greater Bay Area can become the development center of the entire country's equestrian skills and capabilities. This is a unique opportunity. As a world -class organization, we can bring our skills, which will help the industry's long -term development.
On the other hand -horse racing, horse racing is usually the selection process of breeding. If you want to reach the level of the development of the horses in the country, you need to choose a good horse as a horse. With our world -class standards, we have an international platform that can assist the development of the Mainland -raising industry to some extent. If Chinese horses selection and international horses selection can compete, it will be a major development opportunity.
Shenzhen plays a vital role in supporting the development of the horse racing industry. Many people may not know that we have an IT development center of 250 people in Shenzhen. Technology is the key to the development of the horse racing industry. The systems that handle many transactions in Jockey Club are developed by internal development.
We attach importance to the next wave of development. We have 700 employees (information technology departments) in Hong Kong, and we can further use a huge talent pool. If you involve IT development, go to Shenzhen. I think we have a unique opportunity that allows us to gain benefits from the Greater Bay Area and have further development opportunities. Our system, our business way can become a global competitive advantage.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daixun: We know that the registered members of the Hong Kong Jockey Club cover all aspects of society, business, sports, and literary and art circles. It can be said that this is a circle of Hong Kong elite gathers. Do you think these people with capable and energy gather together to contribute to the exchanges of Hong Kong's economic, trade, culture, etc. in the Mainland?
Yingjiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: First of all, I think it is important to identify with the Jockey Club and its values. Our members agree with our purpose of building a better society. In the future, members of Hong Kong and the Mainland, I think we can contribute more to society.
We have established the best practical sharing platform to promote China's development. For example, we donate money to the Sichuan earthquake, including design plans, management of charitable donations, and received the highest recognition of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Many members with sufficient funds can make more contributions to society, but how to do this and how to put it into practice is where we can help members, use our professional knowledge and their own donations to help them give them to society for society. Make contribution.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daixun: The central government attaches great importance to the communication between Hong Kong compatriots and mainland compatriots. What work did the Hong Kong Jockey Club do in this regard?
Yingjiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: We have a lot of exchange projects to allow students to better understand the Mainland through middle schools and universities. We have some exchanges in some schools in Shenzhen and Chengdu to broaden students' understanding of the country, which makes me very moved.
I think the Forbidden City is one of the keys to understanding Chinese culture. I want to find the essence of Hong Kong and understand the history of China. We believe that the Hong Kong Palace Museum Cultural Expo is one of the "anchor points" that bring Chinese culture and the understanding of Chinese culture to Hong Kong. We will make a better interpretation. We hope that after customs clearance, we can further strengthen the exchange plan in terms of style. I firmly believe that we must unite and have to exchange ideas, which is definitely helpful to build better mutual understanding and trust. Because in the final analysis, everything we do is based on understanding and trust. Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daixuan: Next I want to ask your personal choice. Why did you choose to come to Hong Kong at the time and when you came to Hong Kong?
Yingjiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: I have been to Hong Kong before I settled in Hong Kong. I always fascinate the energy, vitality and "I can do" the city's energy. This is why I live here. I am a German, but I have lived in many countries, such as the United States, England, France. I think this is very helpful for my personal development. My curiosity is very strong, and I have always been interested in Asian and Asian culture. As far as me is concerned, it is important to contact different cultures. I think Hong Kong is very fascinating. This is a dynamic, guided city, full of pressure. But I like to meet the adjustment. I think it is a unique opportunity to go to Hong Kong to broaden my horizons. I appreciate the spirit of "I can do" in Hong Kong. Faced with a serious Asian financial crisis, people did not give up, they challenged themselves and reshaped themselves. This spirit may also be my nature. I am a person full of vitality and focus on results.
The atmosphere of Hong Kong is very attractive. I understand Asian culture, which may be completely different from Western culture, that is, the first community and family, not the individual. When they experienced SARS in 2003, the nurses in Hong Kong knew the risks they were facing, and they were willing to enter the hospital to help people risk their lives. For me, this is a critical moment, which can be said to be a city that people are willing to sacrifice the community. This caused a good resonance, which I like to do. I like food, Chinese cuisine, and Hong Kong. Here you can experience the food of the world. I am more and more accustomed to truly exquisite Chinese food. I like to eat with my friends, share ideas, and share friendship.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daizheng: You just mentioned the "one country, two systems". What are your confidence in the "one country, two systems"?
Yingjiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: I am very confident because I think it is a framework established during a period of geopolitical challenges. In terms of economic development, I think Hong Kong has benefited a lot from the opportunities brought by China's rise. See how China develops economy, how to get out of poverty of 30 to 400 million people, and how 100 million Chinese people entered the middle class every 5 years. I appreciate it very much. Hong Kong's achievements are huge. With the "special contribution" of Hong Kong, Hong Kong can achieve unique interconnection and benefit from it. I personally think that "one country, two systems" is a unique opportunity for Hong Kong to maintain and develop its own identity.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daizheng: We will return to the 25th anniversary of the 25th anniversary. This year is the 25th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the motherland. What are the celebrations of the Jockey Club prepared?
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: We want to celebrate with the entire Hong Kong society. The SAR government is naturally our partner. We donated 630 million Hong Kong dollars for Hong Kong community activities. Next week, we will launch celebrations in a community and hold 60 activities in 18 regions. This is a community activity, not just a Jockey Club event. For us, this is important. We are part of society and we can contribute. As a club, we will definitely celebrate on the 25th anniversary competition day. We will have a very special trophy and a special first prize to create some stimuli. The 25th anniversary of the regression is a milestone in Hong Kong's development. I am very confident that Hong Kong's special status will continue, and Hong Kong will develop prosperity.
Shenzhen Satellite TV Reporter Luo Daiyi: The 25th anniversary is another new starting point. What are your expectations for the future of the Jockey Club and the future of Hong Kong?
Ying Jiabai, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Jockey Club: I personally think that in the next 25 years, one of the things I look forward to is that we will hold a regular season on Conghua, Guangdong, and make it into a world -class entertainment entertainment. project. This will be the goal of the next five years, and I am looking forward to this. We will design a completely sustainable horse racing field. We will cooperate with world -class architects. They are the designers of the Hong Kong M+Museum. Our organizations work very hard because this is a major challenge, but I believe that the club has been meeting the challenges and cope with the challenge. So I am looking forward to the next 25 years, but I will start from the next 5 years.
