Each year can save 188,000 tons of standard coal, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 471,000 tons, reduce sulfur dioxide and dust emissions of 1.16 million tons. Zhu Jinhua, the project manager of the first and second phase of Meizhou pumping storage power stations, introduced that the second phase of the Meizhou pumping storage power station and the first phase of the project shared the upper and lower reservoirs, which can be greatly significantly achieved. Reduce the construction of engineering investment and ground engineering, and the area of ​​land acquisition and demolition is less than 5%of the first phase of the project. On the basis of the shortest period of work in the first phase of the main project in China, the second phase of the project is expected to optimize the construction period of more than 6 months to achieve early production and early power generation.

At present, the total installed capacity of the six pumping storage power stations in the Guangdong -Hong Kong -Macao Greater Bay Area is 9.68 million kilowatts. Southern Power Grid also carried out more than 10 pumping storage power stations in Zhaoqing, Huizhou and other places. It is estimated that by 2030, the scale of water storage capacity in the Greater Bay Area will expand to nearly 20 million kilowatts.
