On September 16, when the Russian President Putin attended the Senchi Summit, he urged Russia's fertilizer exports to export problems such as freight and insurance. He said that Russia is preparing to provide the country's 300,000 tons of chemical fertilizer to the European port for free to develop the urgently needed fertilizer, saying that this will help alleviate the global food crisis.
Russia's grain export volume or growth this year
On September 9 this year, Putin stated that Russia intends to provide hundreds of thousands of tons of fertilizers to the European port freely to urgent developing countries, and first consider providing potassium fertilizer for free. Putin asked the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study related issues.
From May to August, Russia provided 7 million tons of chemical fertilizer to other countries. Putin emphasized that the European Union prohibits the discrimination of Russia's fertilizer to other regions through European ports.
Putin also said that from May to August this year, Russia exported 6.6 million tons of grain to the global market, including wheat, barley and corn, of which 6.3 million tons were transported to Asia, Africa and Latin America. By the end of this year, Russia can export 30 million tons of grain to other countries. In view of the good harvest this year, Russian grain exports may increase to 50 million tons or more.
Since the upgrading of the Ukraine crisis, Western countries such as the United States have implemented multiple rounds of sanctions and economic restrictions on Russia, but claiming that sanctions do not involve agricultural production, sales and transportation. However, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on August 26 that there were many obstacles to the Western sanctions on bank settlement, insurance, and shipping, and a large number of Russian fertilizers and raw materials reserved transfer stations.
The United Nations is working hard
Clear obstacles to the exports of Russian food and chemical fertilizers
UN Secretary -General Antonio Gutres said in an exclusive interview with the Russian News Agency that the United Nations is trying to clearly obstacles to Russia's grain and chemical fertilizer exports, and many European ports have released positive signals to the United Nations.
In an exclusive interview broadcast on the 17th of Russia, Gutres said that Russia's grain and fertilizer exports are absolutely essential to alleviate market shortages. "We are trying to create conditions to eliminate all obstacles affecting these exports."
Russian President Putin previously said that after Russia, Ukraine reached an agricultural product foreign transportation agreement with the United Nations and Turkey, only 3%of the grains exported from the port of Ukraine were shipped to poor countries. At the same time, only the European Union countries could buy Russian fertilizer. It still cannot export chemical fertilizers to Asia, Africa and Latin America via European port.
Around this issue, Gutres communicated intensively with EU leaders this week. He said that the port of Rotterdam and Finland Carter Carted had released positive signals to the United Nations, and the United Nations discussed with Antwerp in Belgium and Burger in Germany.
Gutres also mentioned that he will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the general debate of the United Nations Conference next week to discuss issues such as Ukraine, Russian food and fertilizer exports. "Although my schedule is still changing, I can tell you, of course, we will meet."
