I am Gaowen, from Germany, the founder of the German bread room in Suzhou BROTECKE. This year is the tenth year I settled in Suzhou.
In the past ten years, I settled down here, married and had children, and entrepreneurial dreams. From a small shop to three branches, from the couple to a family of four, I changed from a "home" to a "hometown".
Paying from banknotes to mobile phones, logistics from Suzhou to Tiannanhai North, from small tower to the building ... while becoming Suzhou's ideal life, I have witnessed the diversified and rapid development of the city.

Noodles, fermentation, baking ... Starting at 4 am every day, in the BROTECKE German bread workshop in Taicang in Suzhou, all kinds of traditional German bread is released. This is my awakening of Suzhou's cute city. Unique way.
BROTECKE German bread room is a traditional German bakery operated by my Chinese wife Tao Shaoying in Taicang. Every day, the bread made in the bread workshop will be delivered to the store before 9 o'clock for all friends who come to taste.
Speaking of the bakery, I have to mention the encounter with Suzhou. The seeds of bread dreams have been buried in my heart since childhood, and Suzhou gave it to nourish it.
In childhood, in the town of my hometown, there was a bread house run by an old couple. This is my favorite place after school every day. Delicious bread, warm hot drinks, kind elderly people ... These have become the deepest childhood memories in my mind.
In 2009, I traveled around the world and met and love each other in Dubai. Since then, we have been to many cities in China. In 2012, we met Taicang in Suzhou.
Small and delicate is my first impression of Taicang. Although the city is not large, it is clean and quiet, and everything is orderly. Even though the architectural style of the city is completely different from Germany, the pace of leisurely life makes people look at it at first sight.
That is, in this year, we resolutely gave up the good treatment, resigned from the work of multinational companies, and settled in Taicang's home. Three years later, Taicang's first traditional German bakery was officially opened. Today, BroTecke's German bakery has three branches, which has also become an Internet celebrity bakery in people.

The memory on the tip of the tongue always sounds the door of people's hearts the most, and retaining this memory needs to work hard on raw materials and production. There is an important principle that the traditional formula for moral bread to continue the traditional taste is that the traditional formula is unchanged. In my office, there is a yellow ingredient table, and 37 bread formulas are clearly written on this "secret". In the process of bread production, each step is strictly implemented in accordance with the formula standard, which has not changed in 10 years.
In the process of making, bread baking is an extremely important link. During baking, the energy supply of the oven cannot stop for a moment. As long as it stops, the bread of the entire oven will be scrapped, and the oven will also be damaged. But traditional German bread baking machines have a large energy consumption, and energy problems have become my biggest trouble.
What I didn't expect was that the rapid development of Suzhou's power and stable power supply solved all the worries. Ten years ago, after we submitted the application for high -power power supply, the approval of the relevant government departments quickly passed, and the staff immediately installed the power facilities for us. Until now, they will regularly help us repair the equipment status.
In the past 10 years, we have never encountered the problem of power outage, and the use of electricity that is cleaner than fuel and natural gas has also made our bread more environmentally friendly.
Taicang is a city of love and tolerance. Before I came, I didn't know that Taicang was the "hometown of German enterprises", and I did not expect that there were 400 German companies here. Not only large German companies such as intelligent manufacturing and aerospace can be welcomed, and small and micro enterprises like German bakery can also receive much attention.
Since entrepreneurship, the opportunities and help given to me by Taicang made me really feel the warmth like my hometown. Many measures have also made me understand that entrepreneurs can get the help of many people here. Now, as a entrepreneur of Taicang, I want to return the city with the highest quality bread. From "other people" to "hometown"
Personally experience the extraordinary development of the city
Time is like water, the years are like songs, and ten years have passed. The taste and quality of bread are still the same, but the sales method has continued to move forward with the development of Suzhou.
In 2018, after the counseling of relevant departments, we obtained online sales and opened online stores. The Germans love bread, but no one would express a piece of bread from Munich to Berlin. In China, our bread uses the Internet to sell from Taicang to Hainan, Liaoning and other places. Convenient logistics and fast transportation, even friends thousands of miles away can taste the freshest bread.
In addition, compared with German cash payment, China's electronic payment is more convenient, and a mobile phone can solve all problems. In the bakery, there are a lot of customers who pay with mobile phones. The funds can be allowed in time to reduce the pressure on the flow of funds operated by the bakery.
With the change of sales methods, we can also see the dietary changes in Suzhou people over the past 10 years. Wicker bread is a non -common bread in Suzhou in the past, but now it has become one of the best -selling products in our store. Today, for Suzhou people, food health is the first.
Compared with the changes in the bakery, Taicang is changing. In the past 10 years, I saw the high -rise buildings rising, and the roads on the road were horses, and the crowd was bustling. However, the development of the city has not hindered the protection of the ecology. The family of four of our family has a small habit, that is, go to the park after dinner every day. This is the happiest time of my daughter's day. Running, playing, rolling ... she can do whatever she wants on the wide lawn. In Taicang, there are many urban oasis like this, and there are three next to my home and bakery.
The development of Suzhou is changing with each passing day. Living here can be free and worry -free, and can be free. My first decade in Suzhou has passed, and I look forward to the next ten years.

Q: During ten years, from a small shop to three branches, the quality of bread remains high. How do you make the output and quality go hand in hand?
I built a boat, and Suzhou gave me the wind and sail that sailed. At first, we did not have a lot of goals. As more and more customers are, we plan to expand our business. With the appreciation and help of the Shaxi Town Government, we have solved the problems of imported equipment, funds, and factory buildings; with the trust and support of customers, we insist on making high -quality bread. Time, geographical, people, can make my career better because I am lucky to encounter the opportunity of the times.
Q: What is the greatest happiness or gain for you to run a traditional German bakery in Suzhou?
Bringing the bread in his hometown to Suzhou to let Suzhou people fall in love with German bread; integrate Suzhou culture into my bread and let more Germans understand Suzhou is my most fulfilling thing. Food varieties and ways are not important. What is important is that this represents a lifestyle and culture. I am very happy to use my bread as a bridge, so that more Suzhou people and Germans have more interaction and exchanges in bakery.
Q: As a foreign "New Suzhou", how do you see the development of Suzhou in the past ten years?
Here, I never feel that I am a foreigner. This is my hometown. In the past ten years, I have personally felt the huge development of Suzhou. There are both the charm of Jiangnan famous cities and the style of international cities. For our bakery, health requirements are also increasingly strict every year. We will use higher -quality bread to keep up with the pace of Suzhou development.
Q: Ten years have passed and ten years have come. What kind of plan do you have for the future?
From the couple to a family of four, along the way, I am more sure of what I love in my heart. Life and entrepreneurship in Suzhou, I feel very happy. In the future, my biggest dream is to continue the quality of the bakery to meet the needs of customers. Now I am also the father of two children. I want to spend more time to accompany the children to let the children know the culture of Suzhou.
