At 12:52 on September 5, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The seismic is about 39 kilometers from the Dadu River Bridge Bridge of the Plateau Railway at the China Railway Bridge.

Luding Bridge Square is one of the disaster resettlement points in Luding County. At 16:00 on September 5, the Dadu River of the China Railway Bridge Bureau has organized more than 20 people to rush to Luding Bridge Square to help set up emergency tents. At 23:40 that night, more than 20 other people went to Luding County Government Affairs Center to load and unload disaster relief supplies.
