The protection story of Zhu Xi in China began in the late 1970s. At that time, the wild Zhu Xi in the Far East of North Korea, South Korea, Japan, and Russia had announced extinct. The news of "Zhu Xi may have been extinct" caused international shock. Fortunately, in 1981, China discovered the last 7 Zhu Xi on the earth -they lived in the ravine in Yang County, Shaanxi. After continuous efforts from all walks of life, this surviving population has been continuously reproduced, expanded, and spread, and has got rid of the shadow of species extinction.

At present, there are about 8,000 wild Zhu Xi group in China, mainly distributed in areas above 30 degrees north latitude. This distribution characteristics are not conducive to Zhu Xi's species standing on the earth. A severe bird flu can bring a fatal threat to the existing Zhu Xi wild population. In this context, Nanshan National Park launched Zhu Xi to introduce work.

"Introduction" is the highest level and ultimate purpose of the protection of endangered species. It refers to the introduction of the individual of endangered species into the historical distribution of the species through artificial methods, and establish a self -maintained wild population.

In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Hunan was widely distributed in Zhu Xi. Nanshan National Park is located in the southwestern part of Hunan, consisting of multiple nature reserves, scenic spots, and geological parks. The latitude here is lower than the existing Zhu Xi field groups, and its ecological environment is also very suitable for Zhu Xi to survive and reproduce. After the preliminary investigation and demonstration and the consent of the relevant departments, Nanshan National Park decided to introduce the individuals of Zhu Xi from Shaanxi and other places to implement wild return.

The first batch of 10 Zhu Xi departed from the Zhu Xi National Nature Reserve Breeding Center in Yangxian County on September 5th. Zhang Min, a breeder of Zhu Xi in Zhuxi National Nature Reserve in Yang County, Shaanxi, participated in the transportation work of Zhu Xi. He said that 10 Zhu Xi were carefully selected adult individuals, and they had experienced wild training for more than two years before.

National park construction adheres to the concept of "ecological protection first, national representativeness and public welfare". Nanshan National Park is one of the first national park system reform pilot areas.
