GDP of ecosystems refers to the value of all ecological products provided by the natural ecosystem of a specific regional unit. In April 2021, the Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Establishing and Implementing the Mechanism of Ecological Products", which clearly requested the establishment of an ecological product value evaluation system, formulated accounting specifications, and promoted the use of accounting results.

Many developed regions in China use the advantages of ecological resources to explore the path of ecological products to achieve the path of realizing the value of ecological products, while creating an ecologically livable countryside, and running towards common prosperity.
