The department stated that the average accumulated rainfall of measurement in July and August was only 225.5 mm, which was the lowest record of 216.1 mm in 1993; Yilan, Taitung and other places all set the minimum record of cumulative rainfall in the same period.
Taiwan ’s average rainfall this summer is also the second youngest in history. The meteorological department stated that the average rainfall day this summer was only 15.9 days, including measuring stations including Yilan, Hualien, Penghu and other places.
In previous years, typhoons were an important source of rainwater in Taiwan in summer, but 9 typhoons have been generated since June this year, which is less than the average climate. Taiwan has not released a typhoon alert so far, breaking the record of the "South Repair" typhoon in 2010. The Taiwan Meteorological Department reminded that due to the significant rainfall in July and August this year, and the central and southern parts of the autumn will gradually enter the dry period, rainfall this year may be less than 2020.

At present, the water storage rate of Keelung Johor Bahru reservoir is only 30 % left; the water storage rate of the emerald reservoir supplied in the Greater Taipei area has also fallen below 60 %; although the water storage rate of the central and southern reservoir is still normal, it will enter the dry period in October. Taiwan this summer is not only less rainy, but also high in temperature. According to data from the Taiwan Meteorological Department, the average temperature in Taiwan this summer reached 29.38 degrees Celsius, ranking fifth in history; in terms of the average temperature, Taipei Testing Station 30.7 degrees Celsius and 9.7 degrees Celsius in Yushan Testing Station reached the highest in the same period.
The Taiwan Meteorological Department estimates that the temperature in Taiwan this fall is normal to warm, and the rainfall is close to normal.
