[Global Times Comprehensive Report] Studies have found that the waist circumference is too thick and the risk of heart failure is higher. According to the British "Times" reported on the 28th, researchers at Oxford University followed up and analyzed the health data of more than 420,000 British for 13 years. During this time, a total of 8,669 participants were admitted to the hospital for heart failure.
Studies have found that every 1 cm increased by the waist circumference of participants, the possibility of admission to hospital for heart failure increases by 4%. In other words, people with 104 centimeters of waist circumference are nearly 40%higher than those with heart failure than 94 cm in the waist circumference. Studies believe that compared with other indicators such as the Body Quality Index (BMI), waist circumference can reflect the risks caused by obesity to the heart. Because the accumulation of stomach fat is around important internal organs, it can cause inflammation of related diseases. James Raper, the head of the British Heart Foundation, said: "Too thick waist usually indicates that there are too many internal organs, and fat will accumulate around our organs, damage our heart and blood vessel function." At the European Cardiac Society Conference held in Barcelona, Spain, researchers called on people to measure waist circumference regularly.
