On August 28, the Pinglu Canal Project held a construction mobilization conference at the Lingshan County project in Qinzhou City, Guangxi, marking the official construction of the first Jianghai joint transportation strategy channel opened by my country since its establishment.

The Pinglu Canal is the backbone project of the New Channel of the Western Luhai and Sea. It starts in the Pingtang River Estuary of Xijinku District, Hengzhou City, Nanning. It enters the North Bay along the Qinjiang River in Luwu Town, Lingshan County, Qinzhou. About 6.5 kilometers. Construction content includes channel engineering, shipping hub projects, cross -river facilities along the line, and supporting engineering. The channel grade is in the river -level I and can navigate 5,000 tons of ships. The project development task is mainly for development of shipping, combining water supply, irrigation, flood control, and improvement of the water ecological environment. The project estimates the total investment of 72.73 billion yuan, of which the static investment is 70.46 billion yuan, and the construction period is 54 months.

According to reports, after the completion of the Pinglu Canal, it will open the Xijiang River into the Haixin Channel at the shortest distance, and realize the direct penetration of the 5873 kilometers of the inland rivers network, Yunnan's channels and marine transportation in some areas of Yunnan, and greatly release the advantages and potential of shipping. Guangxi Changzhou Water Conservancy Hub has exceeded the Yangtze River Three Gorges Hub through the year. In 2021, it was 150 million tons, which has been severely overloaded. After the completion of the Pinglu Canal, it will effectively alleviate the pressure on the lower reaches of the Xijiang River. In the long term, it will be connected with the Xiangui Canal that is being studied and demonstrated. Improve the national water transport facilities network, build a modern national comprehensive traffic network, and accelerate the construction of a strong country to play a basic role.
