Original understanding

With the evaporation of water, the concentration of salt is higher than the solubility. Because the salt water and the container surface and the air contact interface are presented, salt will form crystal nucleus around these impurities. The nuclear stool will gradually grow to the visible crystal that can be visible to the naked eye. However, due to the influence of factors such as the surface of the crystal surface and the liquid flow in the solution, the final size of the crystal growth is limited.

The cause of the salt wall is also very interesting. The first batch of crystal nucleus that are not visible to the naked eye will actually appear in all parts of water droplets: impurities on the container (such as fingerprints), dust falling to the liquid surface in the air, and so on.

With the evaporation of the water, the water droplet will gradually shrink due to the internal agglomeration. However, because of the polarity of water and salt, water will still infiltrate these small grains. The surface of the water on these small grains is very large, so it can evaporate quickly, so that the grains on the edge can grow quickly, forming a wide and high salt wall. For the "bridge" -shaped water drops, the liquid contraction is more obvious when the solution is evaporated by the bridge, and the salt wall formed will be thicker.

However, as the water droplets evaporate further, as the crystal nucleus at the center of the water drops gradually exposed the water surface, the "Crystal Island" became a new condensed area, so the salt particles in the middle of the water droplet were discretely distributed. However, if the water temperature is high enough and the evaporation speed is fast enough, the salt grains in the center will be covered with smaller salt crystals. In fact, when dripping the salt water on the painted areas on A4 paper, the salt particles formed are this smaller densely paved form due to the watering of the paper.
