As of 16:00 on the 18th, the maximum temperature of more than 30 districts and counties in Chongqing exceeded 40 ° C. Among them, the highest temperature of the Beibei National Meteorological Station reached 45 ° C, which refreshed the high temperature record since the station was established in 1935, and became the highest temperature since Chongqing's meteorological record.

Why is Chongqing so hot? Yang Zhi, deputy director of the Chongqing Meteorological Bureau, explained that since July, the Western Pacific subtropical high -pressure high pressure is extremely strong, and the position of low grooves and cold air activity in the west wind is in the northern area. It is sunny and hot in many provinces and cities in the basin. Meteorological forecast shows that Chongqing's sunny weather will continue in the next week, and then the high temperature will weaken and gradually alleviate.
