Sangdan is a herdsman in Zhongcang Township, Nima County, Naqu City, Tibet. In March 2022, he underwent cataract surgery at Lhasa Bright Ophthalmology.

Tibet, located in the "roof of the world", has high altitude, thin air, and strong ultraviolet irradiation. Many farmers and herdsmen have various eye diseases. Among them, the most cataracts have seriously affected production and life.

Since 1993, the Tibet Development Foundation has carried out public welfare activities to carry out cataract removal and artificial crystal implant surgery for cataract patients living in remote and poor areas.

The reporter learned from the support of the Tibet Development Foundation that with the support of all parties, in the past 30 years, more than 30,000 Tibetan cataract patients have undergone free cataract surgery.

It is understood that since 2019, the Tibet Development Foundation has launched the "Oriental Fortune Charity Bright Division" for unpaid cataract resurgence projects. As of the end of 2021, the project invested nearly 7 million yuan, and more than 1,500 people were reinstated. At present, the project is still being promoted.
