In the early days of the study, Liu Baoxian and the team learned from the research plan of PM10 (inhaled particle) source analysis technology system. However, the pollution characteristics of PM2.5 and PM10 were very different. One after another, research was in trouble.
"We underestimate the difficulty of PM2.5 source analysis." Liu Baoxian took responsibility and led the team to continue research. From the beginning of 2012 to the end of 2013, in the past two years, they collected pollutants in urban, suburbs, industrial areas, roads and other places, placed and collected tens of thousands of filter membranes, analyzed pollutant components, carried out chemical analysis and chemical analysis and After the model calculation, after doing a lot of work, it broke through multiple technical problems, and finally developed the monitoring method of more than 200 compounds in PM2.5.
In 2014, Beijing first released the results of PM2.5 source analysis research, which became the first city in the country to release PM2.5 source analysis report.

Prior to 2012, the air quality automatic monitoring system in Beijing was established with traditional technology. Since 2015, Liu Baoxian led the team to set up more than 1,000 small sensors, covering more than 300 streets and towns in the city, as if installing a high -precision "CT machine" for the diagnosis of Beijing's atmospheric conditions.
Under the massive data provided by the high -density monitoring network, Liu Baoxian led the team to combine information such as meteorological, geography, pollution sources and other information to establish a traceability system that traces the cause of pollution to the cause of pollution.
