EU countries officially began to implement natural gas reduction agreements

On August 1, local time, the European Union officially began to implement the voluntary reduction of natural gas consumption agreement passed last month.

According to the agreement, the EU member states will use their own choices to reduce natural gas demand by 15%on the basis of the past five years from August 1st to March 31 next year.The EU Council previously stated that reducing the demand for natural gas is to save costs before the winter coming, and prepare for Russia's natural gas supply.

In order to reduce the amount of natural gas, many European countries have recently announced that they have re -opened coal power plants or take measures to support coal power.However, according to the Fifth round of sanctions against Russia by the EU before, the EU will stop purchasing, imported or transferred from Russia or other solid fossil fuels from Russia or exported from Russia.
