The State Medical Insurance Bureau recently issued the "Subject Plan for Adjustment of National Basic Medical Insurance, Work Injury Insurance and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalogs in 2022", and rare disease therapy drugs approved by the State Drug Administration Department before June 30, 2022 are expected to be included in the new version of the medical insurance drug catalog.

According to basic medical insurance function positioning, clinical needs of drugs, and funding capabilities, drugs outside the 6 category can be included in the scope of the national medical insurance drug directory adjustment, including drugs incorporated into the "National Basic Drug Catalog (2018 Edition)"; Drugs of coronary virus pneumonia diagnosis and treatment plan; incorporated into the encouragement of imitation drugs or encouraging the R & D application for children's drugs, and the drugs approved by the state drug supervision department before June 30, 2022.

It is worth noting that according to the draft of comments, the identification of exclusive drugs will be based on June 30, 2022. This means that more new drugs and good medicines will be included in the national medical insurance catalog in 2022.

Since the establishment of the State Medical Insurance Bureau, the medical insurance drug directory access negotiations have been carried out four consecutive times. A total of 250 drugs have been added to the directory through medical insurance negotiations, and the average price has decreased by more than 50%. By negotiating price cuts and medical insurance reimbursement, a total of 149.49 billion yuan was reduced to patients in 2021.

According to the solicitation opinion, the adjustment of the national medical insurance and drug catalog in 2022 is divided into five stages of preparation, declaration, expert review, negotiation, and announced results, and will be announced in November 2022.
