On the morning of July 29, the team of Director Wang Lei, a burning plastic surgery of the CUHK Hospital, performed a small ear recreation surgery for Xiaoyang. However, the surgery of Xiaowang's mother encountered a problem. Because Xiaowang's mother was already in her 40s and the cartilage had been calcified, a three -dimensional CT examination was performed for patients before surgery to understand the degree of calcification. During the operation, the team of Director Wang Lei found that the patient's rib cartilage was particularly crispy, and it was difficult to meet the needs of carving the outer ear bracket with rib cartilage. Combined with the patient's rib cartilage calcification, it was decided to use the combination of rib cartilage and artificial materials to create a bracket. After a phase of ear reconstruction surgery, the surgery was successfully completed at 4 pm that day.

Seeing that the mother and son returned to the ward safely, the patient's family was very happy. It is reported that this is also the first time for more than 2,000 cases of ear -reconstruction surgery in the CUHK Hospital for more than 2000 cases. Director Wang Lei said that after the first phase of the operation, patients could be discharged from the hospital for about 10 days of care and treatment.
