The South Korean government released the survey results on the 28th, showing that the national population first increased negative growth last year, a decrease of 0.2%compared with the previous year.
Data from the South Korean Department of Statistics show that as of November 1, 2021, the total population of South Korea was 51.738 million, a decrease of 91,000 from the previous year. This is the first negative population growth since South Korea since 1949.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, the population growth rate of South Korea reached its peak in 1960, 3%, and then continued to decline. In 1995, it raised to below 1%.
Data show that the population over 65 years old in South Korea increased by 5.1%over 2020, accounting for 16.8%of the total population, and in 2016, it accounted for 13.3%. According to the relevant United Nations standards, more than 14%of the population over 65 will enter the aging society, and more than 20%is a super -aged society. South Korea's "Central Daily" said South Korea may enter a super -aged society within 4 years.
According to the latest data, the number of single -person families in South Korea increased rapidly. Last year, 7.17 million households, an increase of 7.9%over the previous year, accounting for 33.4%of the number of families, exceeding one -third. The number of families between the two accounted for 28.3%, an increase of 3.6%over the previous year. The total number of single and two families accounted for 61.7%.
