In the dinosaur era, Mizuki Zeng was widely set all over the earth. The plant fossils in the stratum of Baiji Period can often be seen.

But about 26 million years ago, the earth changed, the warm climate was over, and a severe cooling of 400,000 years began. The large -scale extension of the polar glaciers destroy the lush forest. Many plants have the same fate as dinosaurs. In the strata after this period, people have not discovered Mizuto fossils, so scientists believe that Mizuki is also one of the extinct plants during the fourth Glacier period.

Time, for thousands of years. In 1943, in the beacon smoke, botanists found the "god tree" collection specimen in the folk legend in Lichuan, Hubei. After many identifications, people finally determined that this specimen is exactly the same as Mizuki fossils, but it is alive!

It is speculated that it is the Himalayas, which are raised in the Fourth Glacier period and a series of large -scale east -west mountain systems. Inadvertently formed a "refuge" for some animals and plants in southern China.

According to this idea, botanists found three natural ancient metropathy in Lota Township, Lota Township, Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Xiangxi, and the tree was over 1,000 years old.

Among them, there are two growing plants together, with staggered branches, with a diameter of 1.3 meters and 1.4 meters, respectively, and 44 meters and 46 meters, which are the highest metrophals of Mizuki discovered in my country. The longest -lasting old Mizutsu -growing is the longest and more than 1500 years. It is also thicker. It is 41 meters high and the chest diameter is 1.84 meters.

The local Tujia people remember that they were accompanied by these three trees for generations, but they did not know their origin. In the 1950s, some people wanted to cut these three ancient trees for large steel refining, and the Tujias sat quietly under the tree to fight, so that they retained them.

At that time, no one knew that this was a matter of "Fortunately". Later, the study of botanists found that Loseta Township Goto is the only special structure with fossil Shuotou in the existing ancient Metaseli of Hunan and Hubei, which has high value for studying Shuotou genes and improving its genetic diversity.

In order to maximize the ability to protect the precious Metasequoia, in 1982, the Hunan Provincial Government approved the establishment of the Lota Nature Reserve. In order to protect the three trees to establish a natural reserve, this is a special case in the country, and the Lota Nature Reserve has also become my country's smallest provincial nature reserve.

When nature gives a trace of living, people do their best to protect and continue their lives. This is probably the greatest determination to protect the diversity of species in Hunan.

Losita Nature Reserve, located in the middle of Longshan County, mainly protects the natural Gukou. 6 hectares of the protected area around the ancient Metaseli to protect their ecological environment and strictly prohibit human and animals entering inside and various destructive activities.

There are tall peaks outside the protected area, the main peak of Lota is 1400 meters above sea level, the middle of the basin is 618.4 meters above sea level, and the relative height difference is 781.6 meters. The average annual temperature is 13.4 degrees Celsius, and the soil is more fertile.

Experts from the Nanjing Institute of Geology, the Academy of Sciences of China, found that an ancient watercourse in the protected area is different from all other existing metamutra trees. Direct descendants have extremely important scientific research value.
