Qinghai Lake Basin is an important water body to maintain ecological security in the northeast of the Qinghai -Tibet Plateau and the ecological balance of the northwestern China environment; it is a natural barrier to control the spread of desertification eastward and ensure the ecological safety of the eastern agricultural zone; An important node of the channel; it is a typical area of ​​the complete water circulating water ecological process of the internal stream area in China. It has formed a unique "grass -river -lake -fish -fish -bird" symbiotic ecological chain, which is very representative. The creation of Qinghai Lake National Park is of great significance to China's ecological security barrier and the Qinghai -Tibet Plateau ecological civilization.

Recently, Qinghai launched the construction of a demonstration province with the natural protection land system with national parks as the main body. It took the lead in completing the integration and optimization of nature protection for nature in China, and successfully completed the pilot tasks of the two national park systems of Sanjiangyuan and Qilian Mountain. Sanjiangyuan National Park was officially established, becoming China's first batch, ranking first and largest national park.
