According to "Nanchong County" and "Longmen Town Zhi", Longmen Town was originally called Anfu Field. In the Tang Dynasty, the Jialing River diverted the road to the north of Anfu Field. Renamed Longmen Farm. There is a boulder in the underwater of the Longmen Gorge in the water. When the water is rising in the summer and autumn, the torrents flutter through the "water threshold" and splash the thrilling water. At this time "Jumping in front of him, striving for upstream. This spectacular miracle was later interpreted into many versions of the "carp jumping dragon door" myth.

It is said that a long time ago, the mouth of the Longmen Gorge was just disconnected, and the Jialing River flew down from the huge mountains and stones. The carp living in the lower reaches of the Jialing River heard that the scenery on Longmen Gorge was the most beautiful, and they wanted to swim to sightseeing. They swim from Hechuan to Wusheng, then to Guozhou, and to the foot of the waterfall of Longmenxiakou. Behind the waterfall is a high stone rock. The hydropower rushing down is extremely large. It is impossible to travel against the water. They have to stop under the dragon gate.

"I have an idea, what about we skip this Dragon Gate?" A beautiful big red carp told everyone.

"So high, how to jump?"

"If you can't jump well, you will fall to death!"

The big red carp said volunteered and said, "I jump first, try it." After that, it returned to half a mile of miles, and then turned back to use the arrows of Li Xian, shot out of the water, jumped into the sky, and suddenly arrived. It endured the pain, leaped forward, landed on the river surface, and finally crossed the Longmen.

The carp outside the dragon gate saw that the red carp tail was burned by the fire, and one by one was scared to shrink together, and they did not dare to take risks. At this time, I suddenly saw a dragon flying above the dragon gate and said to them, "Don't be afraid, I am your partner big red carp, because I skip the dragon gate and become a dragon. You must also bravely jump!"

The carps heard these words and were encouraged, one by one jumping the Dragon Gate. However, there were a lot of jumping fish, and there were very few jumping doors. The carp that did not jump fell from the air without being killed, but a black scar fell on his forehead. To this day, the black scar has grown on the forehead of the descendants of the carp.

So far, Longmen Town has also seen many landscapes such as "Longmen Gorge", "Longmen", "Water Threshold" and "Carp Jumping Longmen", which are related to this legend. Later people used the "carp jumping the dragon door" to metaphorize the scholars, and they were promoted to Huang Tengda.

In view of the widespread influence of the story of "Carp Jumping Dragon Gate", the State Post Office officially issued a set of special stamps "Little Carp Jump Dragon Gate" on August 8, 2000. On the morning of the same day, the launch of the "Little Carp Jump Dragon Gate" was held in this beautiful and legendary hometown of Nanchong District, Nanchong City. There are 5 special stamps for "Little Carp Jumping Dragon Gate", each with 80 points for each face value.
