In 2008, when Tan Wenbo was constructed in the tower river oil field, a cable car hydraulic pump equipped with a foreign hydraulic system failed. The price of the pump was expensive, and it took a long time. Just when everyone was anxious, Tan Wenbo stood up and said, let me try.

"I was not sure at the time, but it was very uncomfortable in the technical constraint. I thought it would not need to be changed if I could repair it. The company promised to give me 3 days." Tan Wenbo said. The engineers around him helped Tan Wenbo to find and translate English materials. In 3 days, Tan Wenbo successfully resolved the hydraulic pump failure and saved the company more than 1 million yuan.

After that, Tan Wenbo was more willing to explore and innovate technically.

In 2012, Tan Wenbo developed a new stratigraphic closed tool -electric hydraulic bridge plug in 4 months. Prior to this, the strata closed tools were introduced from abroad, and the power relied on gunpowder, and the safety hazards were large. The bridge sealing tool developed by Tan Wenbo uses electric hydraulic to replace the gunpowder as power, which is the first case in the world.

"In early 2013, I entered the laboratory for power testing. I know that once the device seal a leak, it will flash, and I am scared. Once I succeed, we have core technologies." Tan Wenbo said excitedly.

The experiment was successful. Tan Wenbo also became the "big country craftsman 2018".
