"Temptation" from the sea

Hu Dunxin was born in a peasant family in Jimo in 1936. Most of his childhood spent was spent with his grandfather.

Grandpa who has read the "Four Books" and "Five Classics" will tell Hu Dunxin's stories in the bed: the Jin Dynasty car "Baoying Night Reading", Sun Kang's "Yingxue Night Reading", Sun Jing "Head Hanging Beam", the Warring States Period Su Qin's "cone assassin" ... the young Hu Dunxin deeply admired the "protagonist" in these stories.

From the education of private schools in the village, to the Guanzhuang completely primary school, to the private Xinyi Middle School, in 1953, the 17 -year -old Hu Dunxin was admitted to Jimo No. 1 Middle School. After 3 years of full high school, he has developed a good study habit. The belief of "people who have the ideal" has quietly sprouted in the heart of young Hu Dunxin.

In 1956, when he and his classmates were preparing for the exam, the enrollment teacher of the Department of Oceanic University of Shandong University (the predecessor of the Ocean University of China) came to Jimo No. 1 Middle School where Hu Dunxin was, and had to choose students with excellent academic science. At that time, the marine department was a confidentiality major, which was closely related to the defense cause. It coincided with the goal of the state's "twelve -year scientific planning". It called on young people to march to science, and students were eager to try. In the end, Shanda chose 18 outstanding students, including Hu Dunxin to apply for the marine department, "the country's need is my volunteer". Hu Dunxin gave up his "Peking University Dream". Ocean dream.

In the first grade of college, there were seasan internships. Some classmates asked for a professional because of seasickness, but Hu Dunxin never thought of giving up.

In 1961, Hu Dunxin was admitted to the graduate student of the Institute of Marine Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and studied with Academician Mao Hanli. Mao Hanli asked students to be solid in basic skills. During this period, Hu Dunxin, who was originally unwilling and meticulous, was even more stable. The study time of three units a day, four hours in the morning, afternoon, and evening, immediately entered the state as soon as he sat down. Hu Dunxin called it "scientifically guarding Dantian."

After 6 years of academic exchanges and discussions at home and abroad, in April 2010, the "Northwest Pacific Ocean Ring and Climate Test (NPOCE)" led by Hu Dunxin was finally officially obtained Approved as an international cooperation plan and officially launched in May of the same year. This is the first large -scale international cooperation plan launched by China. 19 units in 8 countries including China, the United States, Japan, and South Korea participated. Hu Dunxin served as the chairman of the scientific guidance committee of the cooperation plan.

Hu Dunxin understands that China's marine scientific research will drive to the sea that is farther through international cooperation.

After 11 years of construction, the team led by Hu Dunxin and his student Wang Fan has built the world's largest Western Pacific Submarine Observation Network.

This is of great significance in the history of the World Ocean Sciences, which accelerates the improvement of my country's marine environment and climate observation and research capabilities.

Hu Dunxin attaches great importance to the training of young talents and is always committed to forming an excellent talent team that focuses on marine circulation and climate research. He told young people to have the spirit of being willing to know, always "doubt", think more without blind obedience; he encouraged the descendants to have perseverance, not to be irritable and quick -profit.

Today, his students have grown into academic leaders of physics marine science, becoming the backbone of the new seeds, and inheriting Hu Dunxin's "Tao Li Fangfang".
