Zhang Enkai grew up under the roots of the first Guancheng wall of the world since childhood, and loves the local story, history and culture of his hometown. This love has transformed into a dream of research and preaching the spirit of the Great Wall.

Zhang Enkai studied at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and systematically contacted art in the school. As a result, his literary hobbies were more widely hobbies, one of which was collecting money coins. In the 1960s and 1970s, he gritted his teeth and spent nearly a month of salary to buy an old banknote from the Republic of China. The pattern on this coin was the Great Wall.

Since then, Zhang Enkai integrates his feelings into research hobbies. He has published articles such as "Shan Customs on Chinese Coins", "Great Wall on modern Chinese banknotes" and "History of Great Wall Coins".

More than ten years ago, Zhang Enkai had the idea of ​​included all the coins with the Great Wall pattern into the book. After learning about Dong Yao, the vice president of the Great Wall Association of China, he was very supportive. The encouragement of the old friends made Zhang Enkai strengthen his belief.

But this work is easy for the elderly, Zhang Enkai is abolished and forgotten, traveling in the world of ancient coins. During the collection process, Zhang Enkai found that many old coin physical objects and data charts were severely damaged. He learned the computer drawing software and fixed the drawings one by one.

In order to match the background map, the old man carried his camera to the Great Wall paragraphs such as the Qinhuangdao and the Great Wall section of Badaling and Jiayuguan, and took hundreds of Great Wall pictures. For the rest of the time, he kept himself in the study, read the information, traced the source, and continued to cultivate.

For more than a dozen years, he "grinded" a little bit, was easy to make his manuscript, and finally became a book. In 2017, the "Great Wall Illustrated Book on China Coins" was published, which opened a direction for the Great Wall Cultural Research, and also rounded Zhang Enkai's long "Great Wall Dream".
