Hebei: The restoration of Buddhist statues unearthed from Beiwuzhuang in the city site completed more than a thousand pieces

The reporter learned from the Archaeological Team of Wucheng that since the announcement of the archeological discovery of Beiwuzhuang Buddha's statue of the Beiwuzhuang Buddha in Linzhang County, Hebei Province, cultural relics repair experts have been rescued and repaired on the unearthed cultural relics for ten years. As of now, more than a thousand Buddhist statues have been repaired.

At the beginning of 2012, a total of 2,895 pieces (blocks) were unearthed in the Beiwuzhuang Buddha statues in the northern Wuzhuang Buddhist statue of the Beibei Buddha in the Lingcheng site in Linzhang County, and there were about 3,000 fragments of Buddhist statues. Beiwuzhuang Buddha statues have a large number of cultural relics and rare in the beauty of the appearance.

The primary work of cultural relics is to protect and repair. The State Administration of Cultural Relics has allocated special restoration funds. The Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Peking University Archaeological Board Institute formulated a large scientific analysis of the material classification, production process and basic diseases of the unearthed cultural relics. Cultural relics repair experts are mainly fragmented by Buddhist statues, cleaning the pollutants such as dirt, sediments, and the protection of the pigment layer and gold decorative layer for preliminary practice exploration to accumulate repair experience.

At the same time, experts and scholars from the Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the National Museum, the Palace Museum, the Chinese Institute of Cultural Heritage, Peking University, Zhejiang University, the Emperor Qin Shi Mausoleum, and the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Research Institute and other units are demonstrated to ensure protection and repair The process and materials are continuously protected and repaired after reasonable and feasible.

The number of cultural relics for protection and repair is large, especially the color protection of the surface of the Buddha statue and the hard work of gold foil decoration. After ten years of meticulous and hard work, the experts of cultural relics repair have basically completed the protection and restoration of the archives of the cultural relics, cleaning, reinforcement, and bonding of the cultural relics to repair more than a thousand Buddhist statues.

According to experts from the Archaeological Team of Tancheng, by protecting and repairing the work, the form of the Buddha statue and painting, and the style of gold are restored, eliminating the hidden dangers of harmful things in the internal potential. During the repair process, he tried his best to restore the original appearance of the statue of the Buddha. This restoration provides reliable specimens for the type, subject matter, and combination of Buddhist statues in the Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang dynasties. It also provides important clues for exploring the method of destroying Buddha and Buddha's burial in Chinese history.
