The Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court sentenced Zhang Zhijun to the death penalty on October 28, 2020, and implemented two years of slow periods to deprive political rights for life. After the verdict came into effect, the six close relatives of the victims appealed. The Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court decided to start retrial, and formed a collegial panel to hear the case in accordance with the law. On December 31, 2021, Zhang Zhijun was sentenced to death, deprived of political rights for life, and reported to the Supreme People's Court for approval in accordance with the law.

The Supreme People's Court reviewed that the defendant Zhang Zhijun, the defendant of the original trial, had a sharp knife stabbing his son -in -law Zou Mou and Zou Moufen and Yang Moufen with a sharp knife. Zhang Zhijun took the initiative to invest in the case and truthfully confess his crimes and surrender. In the marriage and family disputes of her daughter, Zhang Zhijun should be treated calmly as an elder, but he lost his mind, but he was murdered with a knife. There is no control, the will of killing is resolute, the criminal means are cruel, the consequences are particularly serious, and the crimes are extremely serious. Although Zhang Zhijun has the first plot, it is not enough to punish it lightly. The fact that the Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court was determined by the re -trial judgment, the evidence was indeed, sufficient, and accurate conviction. The sentencing is appropriate, the trial procedure is legal, and the death penalty shall be given in accordance with the law.
