From 1996 to 1999, the defendant Lao Rongzhi and Faye Ying (have been judged by another case) were conspired and divided into labor. Nanchang City, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and Hefei City, Hefei City, Anhui Province jointly implemented four crimes of robbery, abduction and intentional homicide, causing 7 victims to die. After the incident, Lao Rongzhi absconded with a pseudonym and other pseudonyms such as "Shirley". On November 28, 2019, he was arrested and brought to justice by the public security organs.

Nanchang Intermediate People's Court determined,

The defendant Lao Rongzhi committed the crime of intentional homicide, robbery, abduction, and punishment for several crimes. He decided to execute the death penalty, deprived of political rights for life, and confiscated all personal property; compensation for more than 48,000 yuan in compensation to the plaintiff of the civil lawsuit. Lao Rongzhi refused to accept the criminal part of the judgment of the original trial and appealed.
