Author:Shanxi Evening News Time:2022.09.16

Swiss men's tennis general Federer announced on his personal social media on the 15th that he will retire after the Lavol Cup in London next week. At this point, the era of the three giants of the men's net altar ended, and the men's tennis "three giants" left only Nadal and Djokovic to compete.

The news came so suddenly, but also expected that after all, Federer, 41, was also retired sooner or later due to the trouble of injuries. However, this day was really emotional.

Federer is one of the greatest players in the history of men's net altar. His career has won a total of 20 Grand Slam championships and a total of 103 tour championships. No one can reach the world with the number one in the world for 237 weeks. The world's first and 20th Grand Slam champions ranked third in the history of men's nets in the history of 310 weeks. The number of tour champions ranked second in history.

As early as July 11 this year, ATP officially updated the latest world ranking. As the Winblden Tennis Open did not have points in 2022, the Swiss famous Roger Federer's points were cleared. This is the first time that Federer has no points in the ranking system since September 22, 1997. Federer once ranked first in the world in 310 weeks, with the longest consecutive world of 237 weeks in the first week.

After "clearing", the news about Federer's upcoming retirement came out -before that, Federer released a clear signal when accepting the Dutch media "Algemeen Dagblad", saying that it might end his brilliant tennis career.

On August 16, 2021, Federer announced that he would undergo knee surgery again, and then he had a long -term missing war. The entire 2021 season was reimbursed in advance. He has not returned to any competition this season.

In February of Australia in 2020, Federer experienced a knee joint surgery, but because of poor postoperative recovery, he experienced the second knee surgery in June and ended the 2020 season in advance.

The injury eventually defeated Federer. In the past year, Federer had undergone three operations, but the knee injury was never cured.

At this point, the era of the three giants of the men's net altar was officially ended, and only the dispute between the men's tennis giants left only Nadal and Djokovic to compete. As of now, Nadal has 22 Grand Slam championships, and Djokovic is 21 Grand Slam championships, all surpassing Federer. In the four Grand Slam of this season, Nadal won two championships and Djokovic won a championship. The 36 -year -old Nadal and the 35 -year -old Djokovic will continue.

Federer farewell letter

Among all the gifts given to me in the past few years, the best is undoubtedly the one I met along the way: my friends, my competitors, and the most important fans, they gave this sport life.

Today, I want to share some news with you.

As many of you know, in the past three years, I have encountered the challenge of injuries and surgery, and I have been working hard to return to a complete competitive state. But I also know the ability and limit of my body. The information it gives me recently is very clear.

I am 41 years old. In 24 years, I have played more than 1,500 games. Tennis's generosity over my imagination. And now, I must realize when to end my competitive career.

The Lavol Cup in London next week will be my last ATP event. Of course, I will play more tennis in the future, but not in the Grand Slam or tour.

This is a half -bit decision, because I will miss everything that the tour gives me. But at the same time, there are many things worth celebrating. I think I am one of the luckiest people on the planet. I have been given a special talent for playing tennis, and I have reached the level I have never imagined, and time is much longer than I imagined.

I would like to thank my amazing wife Mirka, and she spent every minute with me. She warm up before the final, watched countless games in more than 8 months of pregnancy, and endured my stupid side for more than 20 years. I also want to thank me for 4 excellent children to support me. They are always eager to explore new places and create beautiful memories along the way. Seeing my family cheering on the stands is a feeling that I will cherish forever.

I also want to thank my loving parents and my dear sister. Without them, everything will be impossible. Thank you very much for all my former coaches. They always guide me in the right direction ... You are great! And Swiss tennis, they believe that my young player gave me an ideal beginning.

I really want to thank my excellent team, Ivan, Dani, Roland, especially Seve and Pierre. They gave me the best suggestions and have been with me. And Tony, he has managed my affairs for more than 17 years. You are too incredible, I love you every minute.

Thanks to my loyal sponsors, they are my real partners and teams who work hard in ATP events. They always welcome everyone with friendship and enthusiasm.

Fair competition, passion and strength, I always try my best to respect the history of the event. I am very grateful, we pushed together to bring the tennis to a new level.

The most important thing is that I must thank the incredible fans. You never know how much strength and belief you have given me. Entering the stadium full of people, the kind of bloody drumming is one of the most exciting feelings in my life. Without you, these success will be very lonely and no longer full of joy and vitality.

The tournament of the past 24 years is incredible adventure. Although sometimes it feels like 24 hours, it feels deep and wonderful, it seems that it has spent a lifetime. I am fortunate to show myself in front of audiences in more than 40 different countries. I have experienced joy and tears. The most important thing is that I feel that I am still alive.

Through the tour, I met many outstanding people. They became friends of my life. I looked at my game in my busy schedule and cheered for me around the world. Thank you.

When I started to love tennis, I was a caddy in my hometown of Basel. In the past, I often watched the players with surprise. They were like giants to me, and I started to have a dream. My dream made me work harder, and I started to believe in myself. Successfully brought me confidence, I set foot on the most amazing journey to today.

Therefore, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and thank the world for helping a young Swiss caddy realize everyone who dreams of dreams.

Finally, for tennis: I love you, never leave you.
