Zhang Changlu, a native of Tianjin, was born in 1926. One of the first men's basketball players in New China, a national coach, and the first basketball coach in New China.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Changlu's basketball talent got a bigger stage. In August 1950, Zhang Changlu went to Prague to participate in the Sports Competition of the World Student Congress on behalf of the Chinese college student, and won the fourth place. In May 1951, Zhang Changlu participated in the National Basketball Basketball Conference in Beijing on behalf of the North China team and won the men's basketball runner -up. In August 1951, Zhang Changlu participated in the third World Youth and Student Peace Gala in Berlin and won the 6th in 10 teams.
In 1952, the Chinese Sports delegation went to Hernesses in Finland to participate in the 15th Olympic Games. Zhang Changlu served as the captain of the Chinese men's basketball team. However, when the Chinese Sports delegation arrived at Helsinki, the Olympic Games was approaching, and the Chinese men's basketball team could not participate. In August 1954, Zhang Changlu participated in the 12th World Student Summer Games in Budapest, Hungary. The Chinese team won the fifth place among 13 teams.
In August 1955, Zhang Changlu and Chen Wenbin were the coaches of the national team, leading the Chinese team to the capital of Poland to participate in the 5th World Youth and Student Peace Friendship Gala.
Zhang Changlu is the first basketball coach in New China. He has experienced two foreign aid experiences. In 1953, he went to Albania as a basketball coach. In 1960, he went to Albania for the second time.
In 1956, Zhang Changlu was transferred to the National Sports Commission Division. Zhang Changlu also held an important position in the China Basketball Association at the same time. Since 1956, he has served as the first, second and third secretary -general of the China Basketball Association, and since 1982, he has served as the fourth and fifth vice chairman.
In 1964, in order to prepare for the National Basketball Training Conference, Zhang Changlu was responsible for drafting documents such as the "Development of my country's Basketball Training for Fourteen Years" and other documents, and conducted a phased summary and prospects for the development of Chinese basketball.
Zhang Changlu has proposed many reform measures according to the development of the world basketball and the reality of our country. In 1982, the Chinese Basketball Association proposed a series of reforms in the basketball competition regulations for real problems, such as the national basketball youth game without linked defense; at least 10 people in the team; each offensive time does not exceed 25 seconds; the three -pointer goals; Introduce the Chinese official competition.
During Zhang Changlu's national basketball, Chinese basketball achieved a lot of pioneering achievements. In 1975, the Chinese men's basketball team participated in the Asian Men's Basketball Championship for the first time, winning the championship with a full victory. This is the first Asian competition champion of the Chinese men's basketball national team. The winning championship also helped the Chinese men's basketball team eligible for the 1976 Olympic Games. In 1976, the Chinese women's basketball team won the Asian Women's Basketball Championship and won the 1979 Women's Basketball World Championships. In many years of international exchanges, Zhang Changlu also carried out positive and effective work. In August 1976, he was elected as a member of the Central Bureau of the International Basketball Federation. In 1984, he was elected as a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of the Asian Basketball Federation. Since 1986, he has been elected as a member of the International Basketball Federation Executive Committee for five consecutive sessions. From 1987 to 1994, he served as the vice president of the Asian Basketball Federation. In the same year, he also served as executive deputy minister of the Eleventh Asian Games Competition Department.
In 1999, Zhang Changlu was awarded the "New China Basketball Outstanding Contribution Award".
In 2001, the International Basketball Federation made a special contribution to Zhang Changlu's special contribution to the development of the world basketball.
