Foreign media: President wants to run, not done

Agence France -Presse reported on the 12th that official Sri Lanka sources said that the country's President Gota Baya Rajapaka wanted to leave the country on the same day and was stopped by the staff of the airport immigration bureau.

Previously, Rajapaksa has promised to resign on July 13 to allow power to transition peace. Sri Lanka media disclosed that Rajapaksa has signed a resignation letter on the 11th, but the date of filling in the settlement office is July 13.

Last Saturday, a large -scale demonstration in Sri Lanka broke out. Before the protesters rushed into the Presidential Palace, Rajapaksa left the presidential residence.

Agence France -Presse said that as president, Rajapaksa enjoys exemption from arrest, and believes that he wants to go abroad before going down to avoid the possibility of being arrested. Some officials said he wanted to go to Dubai. Rajapaksa's younger brother and the Treasury Minister's position in April this year, Brazil Rajapaksa was also stopped when he tried to leave the country earlier on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka has recently encountered a serious economic crisis, and the shortage of food and fuel has continued for several months, and the demonstration of the public has continued to expand. Speaker Abvadner recently said that party leaders will convene a parliamentary meeting on July 15th, nominate the presidential candidate on the 19th, and choose a new president on the 20th.
