According to Reuters, President Rajapaksa announced his resignation after the protests broke out in the capital of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Speaker Abvadner said on July 11 that the parliament will re -hold a meeting on the 15th and will vote for the new president after the 20th. During this period, Abvadner will be appointed as agent president.
Abervadner said that the protesters had previously rushed to the President and Prime Minister's residence in Sri Lanka, and the president and the Prime Minister both resigned.
